Ah, first day of work after an one month of holiday. First day of work always felt like hell, the other doctors were throwing their patients at you, and you didn't have any other choice than accept and take care of them.
You were in your office, enjoying a coffee.
''Doctor Y/L/N, patient number 37 is insisting to see you'' the nurse said, entering your office.
''Good lord, that guy didn't leave yet?'' you asked, standing up.
Yeah, two moths ago, a guy with psoriasis and paranoia episodes came to the hospital, and well, he was obsessed with you taking care of him. No one else. He spat at everyone else, he was talking alone and he was wide awake at nights, sometimes screaming and scarring other patients.
''No, he's not fully recovered'' the nurse answered.
''How's he doing?''you asked the nurse and took your clipboard.
''He's better. Making good progress'' she replied.
''Eh, I'd better go and check up on him before he'll scare the living hell out of the others again'' you smiled, and the nurse chuckled.
''Oh, and Ava?'' you asked, stopping and looking at her.
''Yes?''
''Get back to work" you smirked and left towards patient number 37. Daniel Dark.
You walked around the corner and down the hall, towards room 207.
Opening the door, you entered, and found him arguing with a nurse.
''Noooo! I won't take it!'' he yelled at the poor man.
"Mr Dark, you have to!" the man said, as calmly as he possibly could in that kind of situation.
''Let me handle it Martin'' you smiled and placed a hand on his shoulder and he nodded.
''Is that... is that doctor Y/L/N?'' Dan asked, turning his head towards you.
Martin left and closed the door behind him.
''Ahh, Mr Dark, I see you made some good progress'' you smiled and sat down on the chair that was next to the bed.
''Where were you all this time?'' he asked, pointing towards you.
''I think I'm allowed to have a holiday once in a while, am I not?'' you asked, looking at his face.
The eczema seemed to retract, and you finally saw some of his features. His greenish brown eyes were sparkling with life, something so mysterious...
''They tortured me! Do you know what medieval tortures they made me endure?'' he asked
"They gave you the same treatment I gave you'' you smiled, looking down at him.
''Lies! It's all lies!'' he yelled.
''Shhh! Where do you think you are?! Is this a mad house?!'' you yelled back, all your patience was gone.
He shut up and looked away, grumbling something under his breath. You drew in a sharp breath and calmed yourself.
''Still talking to yourself?''
''What do you mean? There's always someone in my head I'm talking to" he joked and you laughed.
''I see you got better. Just a little bit more time and you'll get out of here'' you smiled as you took his temperature.
"I can't wait... Bet you're glad you won't see me again" he said.
''Don't be a fool. In my entire career I never hated a patient, nor wished them anything else than good luck and health. That involves you too'' you spoke softly, and he gave you a small smile.
"How was the holiday?'' he asked, raising his eyebrows.
"What is this, a talk show? I'm your doctor dummy, I don't get to ask you about your weird scenarios, and you don't get to ask me about my life" you chuckled.
"Pretty fair"
"Now, I heard you began walking again. I want to see it with my own eyes'' you said, glancing from your clipboard at him.
''Yeah, two days ago. Still practicing" he said and tried to lift himself up.
"Need some help?" you asked, standing up
"No, I got this, I got this" he nodded and managed to make himself stand.
You walked a few steps backwards, towards the wall, as he began to walk, step by step towards you.
The first step was steady and sure, and you smiled, watching him proceeding to take the next one.
But when he did, he lost footing, and stumbled, and you jumped forward, catching his shoulders and trying to steady him. But, the Universe thought otherwise, and the two of you fell on the bed, him on top of you.
''Well, I think I have to practice more'' he said, smirking down at you.
You rolled your eyes, ''You think?'' you asked, sarcasm rolling off your tongue.
''Maybe" he shrugged, and rolled off you. You sat up and pulled on a pair of sanitary gloves and took the jar of ointment.
"By the way, take this off" you said, gesturing to his shirt.
"Miss Y/L/N, I'd never--" he began, but you cut him off
"Ointment time Mr Dark" you said
"Oh! Yeah, I knew that" he nodded.
He managed to take off his shirt with your help, and you began to massage the ointment on his face, his neck, arms, chest and back. All the time, Dan made superhuman efforts not to think about your hands on his body, and he held back numerous moans and groans.
You tried to ignore it, it was just your job, nothing more... Nothing more... Right? Maybe.
After you finished with his upper part, you took off your gloves and threw them in the trashcan.
''Umm... I don't want to be rude, but didn't you forget something?'' he asked, nodding towards his crotch.
"Oh, I didn't forget. Martin will do it for me. We don't want that little 'accident' happen again now, do we?" you smiled and patted his cheek, before you walked towards the door and opened it.
"What? Martin? No, no, no!'' Dan yelped, a terrified expression on his face.
'Oh, this should be interesting' you thought to yourself as you walked on the hallway towards your office.
On the inside, you were glad that he was better now.
