!Soulmate AU!

(you have a counter on your wrist that tells you exactly the time when you'll meet your soulmate)

This happens after IM 3, before Age of Ultron.

---

Stark parties.

Famous events that attract people from all around the world, events so exclusive that only people with a name can attend to.

Tony was sitting at the bar, sipping his Coke as he looked around the room aimlessly. He was bored.

No, bored wasn't the right word. He was feeling empty.

Weird, huh?

Tony Stark feeling empty at one of his famous parties... something that never happened to him.

A day before the party, Tony finally gathered courage to lift the sleeve of his shirt and look at the counter on his hand.

24 hours, 45 minutes, 34 seconds...

Since it was 3 in the morning, he did the math, and found that he was going to meet his soulmate in the night of the party.

After all these years... You finally show up, huh?, he thought smiling.

He was 40 years old, damn his soulmate made him wait a while.

Yet, Tony thought it was worth the while. Everybody was saying that the soulmate is made to soothe your pain, and to make you the best version of yourself. Tony waited for that one person his whole life, he was patient, he sometimes got mad about it, and sometimes he wanted to just go and walk the world to find her.

But he knew that it doesn't work like that. The soulmate will only show up when it's the right time.

Tony couldn't help himself as scenarios about her ran trough his mind. Was she nice? Was she blonde, brunette, redheaded, maybe she dyed her hair? Was she smart? Was she someone he already met?

Since the party was exactly in the night when he'll meet his soulmate, he decided to make the party a free entry one. Maybe his soulmate wasn't some rich person, so he thought that he'll make it like that, so everyone could attend.

Tony didn't care from where she was, what she was, or how she looked, he just wanted to meet her. As long as he was finally going to meet his special person, he didn't care.

And now, there he was waiting for his girl to show up.

Yet, she didn't appear.

It was already 2 am, and she wasn't there. Tony didn't even touched alcohol as he waited for the love of his life to make appearance.

Where is she?, he thought as he looked around the room.

"Hi" a woman said, sitting down next to him.

"Oh, uh, hi" Tony turned around and showed a sincere smile.

Is this her? She's beautiful..., Tony thought as his eyes scanned the woman that was in front of him.

That was until his eyes landed on her wrist, and he saw that it wasn't his soulmate. The woman's counter read 45 hours, 12 minutes and 7 seconds.

It wasn't her.

"Hey, would you like to--" the woman began, only to have Tony interrupt her.

"Sorry honey. Not tonight" Tony denied and sat up, leaving her sitting at the bar.

Tony walked past some people as they moved to make room for him to walk. He stood at the entrance of the room and scanned it one more time, before he shook his head and headed to his bedroom.

After he changed the suit he was in, Tony headed for bed and tried to sleep. He tossed and turned, but to no result.

Remarking that he couldn't sleep, he threw on some clothes and walked towards his lab.

"JARVIS, how's Mark 27?" Tony asked as he opened the glass door to the lab and entered, the door shutting closed with a click behind him.

"Still charging, sir"

"Still charging?!" Tony exclaimed, lifting his eyebrows.

"Well, sir, perhaps flying with it to Chicago to buy a pizza was a bad idea"

"Seemed like a good idea at a moment" Tony muttered

"Of course. Like any other idea of yours, sir"

"Haha. Very funny. Gimme Mark 36"  Tony ordered as he jumped on the launchpad

"Sir, I should warn you that---" JARVIS began, only to have Tony cut him off.

"I don't care, JAR, just give it to me" Tony denied the A.I's warning.

"Sir, but--"

"Now JARVIS!"

JARVIS said no more and the suit came flying towards Tony, assembling on his body.

He took off flying through the opened garage door, and made a show of flying around Stark Tower, then headed practically nowhere, just flew around the city.

Suddenly, the suit began making weird noises, and Tony furrowed his eyebrows in confusion. What the hell was wrong with the thing?

"JARVIS, what's wrong with the suit?" Tony asked

"Well, sir---" JARVIS was interrupted by static.

"JARVIS?" Tony asked once again, beginning to panic.

Then he realized he began loosing altitude. The suit was crashing on the ground!

"AAAAAAARRGGHHHH!" Tony screamed scarred as the suit began falling, hitting some branches on the way to the ground and collapsing, making a hole in the ground with a loud BANG.

"Fuck" Tony cursed as the suit began disassembling itself off his body.

He sat up and looked at the suit as it assembled back into its original form, and lightly kicked the hand.

"You're useless" Tony muttered, glaring at poor Mark 36.

He looked around, and observed he was in a 6 ft hole in the ground.

"Shit. How am I going to get home?" he asked himself, looking around and trying to climb out of the crater.

"Hello there" he heard a woman's voice saying, and he looked up, to see a y/h/c headed woman with y/e/c eyes smiling down at him.

"Uh, hi" Tony stuttered, the first time in his life, as he saw the beautiful woman.

"I think you need some help" she smiled and extended her hand towards him.

"Yeah, thanks" Tony chuckled and grabbed her hand, holding it tight as she helped him get up.

Just then, Tony realized that the counter on his hand hit 0 hours, 0 minutes and 0 seconds.

He looked at her wrist and saw that the woman's counter was the same as his.

It's her, Tony thought as he got out of the hole and sat down next to the woman.

"I'm Tony" he introduced himself and smiled gently.

"I'm Y/N" she smiled back, nodding.

Y/N... I like it, Tony thought, already liking how the name sounded in his mind.

"Hey, look. My counter stopped" she said, showing Tony her wrist.

"Yeah, mine too" he smiled widely.

"I guess we're soulmates" she smirked, looking at him.

"I'm sure we are" Tony nodded.
