Brit - After the Wedding

After the ceremony we gathered in the fellowship hall. Shelly was more beautiful than ever. She glowed like an angel. A vibration surrounded my spine. A shiver reminded me that she is my treasure from God! The post wedding activities were a blur. We were on our way to Cha Am beach in Daddy's private plane. It is where Shelly and I would spend two weeks of being pampered and indulged by the most gracious people in the world.

The cool breezes from the Thai Gulf and the Andaman Sea kept us comfortable. The pent-house apartment supplied by Mom was a pleasant surprise. The pristine beaches presented the beauty of Thailand They were quite during week days. Saturday and Sundays presented a pleasant crowd fleeing from the heat in Bangkok.

The local population treated us with respect and loved us like family. Villagers invited us into their homes and to their extended family celebrations. The residents were pleased with our speaking Thai. Some had pictures on their walls of Shelly and me in our fighting dress. They fed us like we were royalty. When we ran each morning flower petals were scattered on the streets. Boys encircled me, and the girls surrounded Shelly to autograph their pictures of us or to sign one of our Smooth Storm comic books. They were sad that Son of Dog was at home.

Tears were shed from their hearts when we left. One little guy who lived with his grandmother hugged my leg and said, "I go home with you." We promised to return on an annual basis.

Shelly was blubbering like a baby when our plane lifted from the ground. She informed me that the grandmother had told her that the lad's mother and father died in a train accident. The grandmother had very little to live on. My wife offered her money. The grandmother was too proud to take it but squeezed Shelly's hand and thanked her.

I had the pilot turn around and said, "God just spoke to me. That boy is our son." Her tears quit flowing and she beamed with the shine of adorable love. When we arrived at the boy's home, I spoke to the grandmother and told her that we needed the love of a grandmother and the affection of a son in our home.

She packed their belongings in a pillowcase. She spoke to her nephew with a smile telling him that God gave her a vision. She would get new kinfolk and trusted Shelly and me to be that family.

Upon arriving in Chiang Mai no one was surprised after we returned with two additions. Momma said, "The women of the family all received a vision of Shelly and your blessings. We are proud of both of you and will embrace them into our family." Momma hugged the two of them and welcomed them home. My new son said, "Poom Song Brit (I am Brit number two.)" Everyone smiled.

Mom told us that we would be staying at her house. Our aunts, uncles, she and Daddy had bought us a new house, but the furniture had not arrived. It was a few houses down on the same street where they lived.
