good souls are never given mirrors

You never saw how beautiful you were. How your very soul shined liked a lighthouse to those lost at sea. I was afraid to know you. Afraid that, because I was lost for so long, I wouldn't be good enough. My soul was bruised, broken and bleeding. Your's was glowing, beating and alive. Do not be deceived, I saw the scars on your soul. I admired the scars the most. Because that's how I knew you were human. For all human souls carry scars. You were once bruised, broken and bleeding. And now your glowing, beating and alive. My only wish was that you might show me how. And...you did. You taught me how to nurse my wounds and yet, not be weak. How to be vulnerable in a world that demands hardness. How to be kind when no one else is. How to laugh when you never thought you'd smile. Now I also wear scars and do so proudly. Your soul has begun to glow even brighter. Oh, my love, all the words in the world wouldn't be able to describe the light you bring. And all the words in the world wouldn't be able to describe my gratitude.
