Sept 17, 1 Thes 4, Ps 36

31 9 14

1 Thessalonians 4:1-18 KJV
[1] Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more.

[2] For ye know what commandments we gave you by the Lord Jesus.

[3] For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication:

[4] That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour;

[5] Not in the lust of concupiscence, even as the Gentiles which know not God:
Concupiscence means; strong sexual desire, lust.

[6] That no man go beyond and defraud his brother in any matter: because that the Lord is the avenger of all such, as we also have forewarned you and testified.

[7] For God hath not called us unto uncleanness, but unto holiness.

[8] He therefore that despiseth, despiseth not man, but God, who hath also given unto us his holy Spirit.

[9] But as touching brotherly love ye need not that I write unto you: for ye yourselves are taught of God to love one another.

[10] And indeed ye do it toward all the brethren which are in all Macedonia: but we beseech you, brethren, that ye increase more and more;

[11] And that ye study to be quiet, and to do your own business, and to work with your own hands, as we commanded you;

[12] That ye may walk honestly toward them that are without, and that ye may have lack of nothing.
Honesty is the best policy. What I get from these last two verses is that some Christians are called to just shine brightly where they are. I mean all Christians are called to shine brightly with God's love, but not all are called to. . . And I just lost my train of thought. Do you have any idea of what I was going to say?

[13] But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.
We are not as those with no hope!

[14] For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.

[15] For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.

[16] For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

[17] Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

[18] Wherefore comfort one another with these words.
This is a good passage to read at a funeral.

Psalm 36:1-12 KJV
[1] The transgression of the wicked saith within my heart, that there is no fear of God before his eyes.

[2] For he flattereth himself in his own eyes, until his iniquity be found to be hateful.

[3] The words of his mouth are iniquity and deceit: he hath left off to be wise, and to do good.

[4] He deviseth mischief upon his bed; he setteth himself in a way that is not good; he abhorreth not evil.
Sometimes I find that since I've lived all my life in an evil world, I've become quite callous to evil. I don't abhor it as much as I should.

[5] Thy mercy, O Lord, is in the heavens; and thy faithfulness reacheth unto the clouds.

[6] Thy righteousness is like the great mountains; thy judgments are a great deep: O Lord, thou preservest man and beast.

[7] How excellent is thy lovingkindness, O God! therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of thy wings.

[8] They shall be abundantly satisfied with the fatness of thy house; and thou shalt make them drink of the river of thy pleasures.

[9] For with thee is the fountain of life: in thy light shall we see light.

[10] O continue thy lovingkindness unto them that know thee; and thy righteousness to the upright in heart.

[11] Let not the foot of pride come against me, and let not the hand of the wicked remove me.

[12] There are the workers of iniquity fallen: they are cast down, and shall not be able to rise.

So I just came back from studying the Lord's Prayer with my pastor and a bunch of other teens, and the thing that really stuck out this time is that God's will is wiser and better than ours, and God's will, will come to pass. We should be praying that God's will be done. That's not to say we should never ask God for things or stuff or people or whatever because it might not be God's will, no no no, God wants to hear His children talk to Him. And He will answer our prayers, He just might not give us the answer we want.

Dear Heavenly Father, You alone are awesome, powerful and wonderful. Thank you so much for everything You have done for us. Thank you that Your perfect will, will triumph over our imperfect wills and wants. May Your will be done, You kingdom come. Lord I don't know what is all in Your will, but if it is in Your will, please be near Mr. and Mrs. W, please grant healing to Mr. W. Please be with Mr. VD, thank you that he is healing very well for his age and injury, please let his healing continue to go well. Please be with my aunt and uncle as my aunt fell twice and my uncle is still having some memory problems. Please be with everyone who has asked for prayer, and everyone else in my prayer journal, You know their personal needs, struggles and temptations, please grant them Your comfort and help, in Jesus's name, Amen
