2 Timothy 1:1-18 KJV
[1] Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, according to the promise of life which is in Christ Jesus,

[2] To Timothy, my dearly beloved son: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.

[3] I thank God, whom I serve from my forefathers with pure conscience, that without ceasing I have remembrance of thee in my prayers night and day;

[4] Greatly desiring to see thee, being mindful of thy tears, that I may be filled with joy;
Today's society has something against tears, they say that only weak people cry and that men especially shouldn't cry. Dude! If it's was so horrible to cry, why did Paul, Timothy, Jesus and others cry! God made us so wonderfully, every single detail of our bodies so well thought out. When we cry, we release stress chemicals or something and that is really good for us. Anyways I am blabbing, the point I was trying to get to was, What if you can't cry? I honestly don't know the answer to this question, that is why I am asking it. It takes a huge amount of emotional pain to make me cry. I don't cry from sad books or movies, I don't cry from physical pain, I don't cry at funerals, I only cry when I am badly hurt emotionally. If I don't stop talking I'm going to tell you my whole life story! I'm sorry for yapping so much, it's just that I haven't been able to talk very much today because of my lung infection. Wow, that got way of topic.

[5] When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also.
The hand that rocks the cradle is the hand that rules the world. Having a godly mother and grandmother probably made all the difference in Timothy. It's a blessing that I often take for granted.

[6] Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.

[7] For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
We do not have the spirit of fear, what should we fear when we are on God's side?

[8] Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God;
Do not be ashamed of the Lord!

[9] Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began,
This verse is good support for the doctrine of election! He saved us and He called us, not of our own works but for His glory, we did nothing, He did it all.

[10] But is now made manifest by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel:

[11] Whereunto I am appointed a preacher, and an apostle, and a teacher of the Gentiles.

[12] For the which cause I also suffer these things: nevertheless I am not ashamed: for I know whom I have believed, and am persuaded that he is able to keep that which I have committed unto him against that day.
Do you know the hymn based on this verse? I really like it.

[13] Hold fast the form of sound words, which thou hast heard of me, in faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.
Sound words. Please don't hold onto anything that is not sound.

[14] That good thing which was committed unto thee keep by the Holy Ghost which dwelleth in us.

[15] This thou knowest, that all they which are in Asia be turned away from me; of whom are Phygellus and Hermogenes.

[16] The Lord give mercy unto the house of Onesiphorus; for he oft refreshed me, and was not ashamed of my chain:
Don't be ashamed of helping your brothers and sisters in chains.

[17] But, when he was in Rome, he sought me out very diligently, and found me.
Something to note, seeking out a prisoner was not the safest idea. People associated with someone awaiting trial, could be given the same charges.

[18] The Lord grant unto him that he may find mercy of the Lord in that day: and in how many things he ministered unto me at Ephesus, thou knowest very well.

Psalm 48:1-14 KJV
[1] Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised in the city of our God, in the mountain of his holiness.
He is greater than anything else!

[2] Beautiful for situation, the joy of the whole earth, is mount Zion, on the sides of the north, the city of the great King.

[3] God is known in her palaces for a refuge.

[4] For, lo, the kings were assembled, they passed by together.

[5] They saw it, and so they marvelled; they were troubled, and hasted away.

[6] Fear took hold upon them there, and pain, as of a woman in travail.
That must have been some major pain.

[7] Thou breakest the ships of Tarshish with an east wind.

[8] As we have heard, so have we seen in the city of the Lord of hosts, in the city of our God: God will establish it for ever. Selah.

[9] We have thought of thy lovingkindness, O God, in the midst of thy temple.

[10] According to thy name, O God, so is thy praise unto the ends of the earth: thy right hand is full of righteousness.

[11] Let mount Zion rejoice, let the daughters of Judah be glad, because of thy judgments.

[12] Walk about Zion, and go round about her: tell the towers thereof.

[13] Mark ye well her bulwarks, consider her palaces; that ye may tell it to the generation following.

[14] For this God is our God for ever and ever: he will be our guide even unto death.
Not just to death, he has paved the way through death and to eternal life!

For those of you who aren't Canadian, Canada celebrates thanksgiving tomorrow. We should always be thankful, and thanksgiving is a good reminder of that.

Dear Heavenly Father, Thank you so much for everything You have given us and everything You have done so for us. If we tried to list all Your blessings, we wouldn't be able to! Thank you so much. Thank you health and sickness, thank you for life and the comfort you give in death, thank you for family and friends, the good and nice ones and the ones that cause much pain. Thank you for everyone in my prayer journal, I do not know many of them very well, but thank you for the impact they have had on my life. Lord please help them through their various trials and temptations, please bring those who have stayed back to You and please keep those who are near You, near You. In Your precious Son's name, Amen
