Hoy-ya-yo!!! It's been five months since I started this!! It doesn't seem that long!!!

So if you read my prayers, you will know that I went to a funeral today. I was asked to babysit during the service, so I can't tell you about it, but it sounds like it was really beautiful. The theme was, 'I know my Redeemer lives', and I think that is really powerful. Something else that really struck me was the fact that there was absolutely no hysterical crying. I have been to a few funerals, thankfully not a huge amount, but I have noticed quite the difference between when the deceased is truly a born again Christian, and when he/she is not saved, or it's questionable as to if they are saved. Sure there were tears at this funeral, especially his wife who he had been married to for over half a century, but everyone knows that this is not a goodbye for ever. It's 'see you in heaven!'  We are not as those with no hope.

2 Timothy 4:1-22 KJV
[1] I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;

[2] Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.

[3] For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;

[4] And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

[5] But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.

[6] For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand.

[7] I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:
This is one of my favourite verses. Say, should I make book with my favourite verses? If I do, it would be in a few months lol. Something to note about this verse, the word 'fought'. The Christian life is not always easy, we have to fight! There are so many parallels about how Christians are soldiers. I pointed out a few in the last chapter I think.

[8] Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.
A crown. We were actually talking a bit about this in Bible study last week, how we will be rewarded with a crown. Someone also mentioned a verse that basically says we will be crowns or in crowns that Christ will wear, how cool is that!!! 😎 Crowns are such an amazing symbol of glory.

[9] Do thy diligence to come shortly unto me:

[10] For Demas hath forsaken me, having loved this present world, and is departed unto Thessalonica; Crescens to Galatia, Titus unto Dalmatia.

[11] Only Luke is with me. Take Mark, and bring him with thee: for he is profitable to me for the ministry.

[12] And Tychicus have I sent to Ephesus.

[13] The cloke that I left at Troas with Carpus, when thou comest, bring with thee, and the books, but especially the parchments.

[14] Alexander the coppersmith did me much evil: the Lord reward him according to his works:
The Lord will reward him. We are not to judge people, or seek revenge. That is the Lord's job. There obviously is a certain degree of judging we must do, like we have to judge who to evangelize too, and when our efforts are being wasted on a person, but always ask God to help you with these judgments.

[15] Of whom be thou ware also; for he hath greatly withstood our words.

[16] At my first answer no man stood with me, but all men forsook me: I pray God that it may not be laid to their charge.
You can see how Paul is like Jesus here, he doesn't want the sins of those who sin against him to be held against them. We must always strive to be more like Jesus.

[17] Notwithstanding the Lord stood with me, and strengthened me; that by me the preaching might be fully known, and that all the Gentiles might hear: and I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion.
Even though all men forsook him, God stood with him. And He will stand with you too.

[18] And the Lord shall deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me unto his heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

[19] Salute Prisca and Aquila, and the household of Onesiphorus.

[20] Erastus abode at Corinth: but Trophimus have I left at Miletum sick.

[21] Do thy diligence to come before winter. Eubulus greeteth thee, and Pudens, and Linus, and Claudia, and all the brethren.

[22] The Lord Jesus Christ be with thy spirit. Grace be with you. Amen.
Amen.

Psalm 51:1-19 KJV
[1] Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions.

[2] Wash me throughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.
Thank you Lord, for washing and cleansing me!

[3] For I acknowledge my transgressions: and my sin is ever before me.
When I was younger, I couldn't understand why we should confess our sins to God. He knows everything anyways, what difference does it make if I tell Him? It makes all the difference. First off, it shows you are truly sorry and hopefully that you you will try your best not to sin again. Second off, you feel so much better! 'Confess and forget' is one of my mottos!

[4] Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest.
You can't sin against anyone but God. That is another reason to confess your sins to Him.

[5] Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.
We are born sinful.

[6] Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts: and in the hidden part thou shalt make me to know wisdom.

[7] Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
Do you know the hymn based on this verse?

[8] Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice.

[9] Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities.

[10] Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.

[11] Cast me not away from thy presence; and take not thy holy spirit from me.
What about the song based on these last two verses?

[12] Restore unto me the joy of thy salvation; and uphold me with thy free spirit.

[13] Then will I teach transgressors thy ways; and sinners shall be converted unto thee.

[14] Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, thou God of my salvation: and my tongue shall sing aloud of thy righteousness.

[15] O Lord, open thou my lips; and my mouth shall shew forth thy praise.

[16] For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it : thou delightest not in burnt offering.

[17] The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.
This verse is in the very top of my favourite verses. It has been such a comfort.

[18] Do good in thy good pleasure unto Zion: build thou the walls of Jerusalem.

[19] Then shalt thou be pleased with the sacrifices of righteousness, with burnt offering and whole burnt offering: then shall they offer bullocks upon thine altar.

Dear Heavenly Father, You are wonderful and wise, none is like You. You alone know what is best. Father thank you so much that we are not as those with no hope. Thank you that we do not say 'goodbye forever' at funerals, we say, 'see you later'. When one of your children dies, we celebrate that they have been taken away from all the pain and sorrow here. Thank you. Father please help us fight the good fight. Father please be especially near Mrs. VV, please bless her healing. It's to bad she didn't make it to the funeral. Lord please let her be well enough to go to church soon. Thank you for everyone in my prayer journal, please bless and keep them, especially those going through difficulties right now. In Jesus's name, Amen
