Chapter 45.

"I'm going to call the police!" Calum muttered, turning around and grabbing his phone from his pocket.

I didn't object, too confused on how and why this was happening.

Was this some sick, twisted game to someone?

Did somebody plant it on my phone?

They couldn't have though, so it doesn't make any sense. My phone was in my pocket the whole entire time!

Could it have been..no, I'm crazy to think that.

'She' couldn't have done something like that, especially with all of those people there.

I was really confused.

Calum returned, frantically taking the phone from my hands and setting it onto the table.

"Don't touch the phone, it's evidence" he said quietly.

"They're sending an officer right now, he'll be here shortly" Calum said, sitting down with a sigh.

"Does this parenting thing ever get a break"

His words sliced my heart, and my throat tightened.

Tears formed in my eyes as I swallowed the lump in my throat.

He wanted a break? Away from..me?

I knew it.

He doesn't even want me.

Behind the sadness and doubt there was anger, it boiled in my blood.

He was the one that adopted me, he didn't have to, he came and screwed around with my life, he can't blame this on me, it's his fault, he should have just left me.

I let out a strangled sob, tears starting to stream down my face as I ran up the stairs and into my room that I shared with..ironically Calum.

I slammed the door and locked it as I heard them call after me and follow me up the stairs.

I laid on the bed, sobbing loudly to myself as I soaked my pillow in tears.

Regret was only the first stage.
