"How could you guys do this to me?" Toph yelled as soldiers held her down. "You betrayed me!"

"You brought this on yourself," Katara said dramatically. "I had no choice."

"Tone down the drama, Katara," Jin murmured to her softly before lifting her voice so others could hear her. "I warned you there were consequences to your actions."

The mayor approached the girls as Toph was dragged away.

"The two of you did the right thing by turning in "The Runaway", " he said.

"The right thing is its own reward," Katara said sanctimoniously.

"Well, I'm happy to hear you say that," he answered warmly.

"Well, er..." Katara backpedalled.

Jin facepalmed before turning to the Mayor with a cock of her hip and her arms folded over her chest. "Sadly though, we have bills to pay, so we also need the actual reward."

Katara smiled sheepishly as the Mayor nodded his head to Jin.

"Of course," he said. "Right this way."

Toph was dragged through the jail and dropped unceremoniously into a wooden cell. She groped around in confusion as she realized that her "sight" was inoperative.

"Hey!" she called out. "What kind of cell is this?"

"A wooden one," the officer answered, leaving the alarmed Toph on her own.

Meanwhile, Jin and Katara were in the Mayor's office as he opened a money box. He was about to start counting out their reward when Jin got a bad feeling.

"Something's not right," she muttered to Katara.

At that moment, the door creaked open. The Mayor looked up then pointed at them.

"That's them," he said. "Those are the girls you were looking for."

The two spun around to see the hulking figure of their mysterious three-eyed attacker blocking the doorway.

"Oh sh-"
