Zuko was busy feeding turtle ducks in the royal garden, a cup of tea steaming at his side with some sweet treats next to it.
He wasn't sure when they had arrived or even who had brought them, but the tea was still hot, so it had to have been recent.
A servant arrived, causing the turtle ducks to scatter. He wondered briefly if this was the person to bring him the tea and sweets, but it didn't seem like it.
"Prince Zuko," he said, bowing low to the ground. "Everyone's waiting for you."
He paused, mid-toss of bread. "What?"
"The high admirals, high generals, the war ministers, and the princess have all arrived," he raised his head to look directly at Zuko. "You're the only person missing."
Zuko hesitated a sense of foreboding mixing with elation. "So, my dad wants me at the meeting?"
"The Fire Lord said he would not start until you arrived, sir," he bowed his head again.
An uncertain smile made its way onto his face, and he stood up to leave.
He was already at the door when he sensed she had come back. He looked back to see her sitting where he had just been, staring out over the pond.
She didn't turn to look at him, and she said nothing.
