Reaching Out

¨He doesn't want you to see them?¨ Italy asked frowning. That didn't sound like Austria, who was a father figure, to him.

The three were hanging out sitting in the hotel lobby.

Germany sighed and nodded his head, frowning. He had replayed last night in his head multiple times, his brother had said that.

And it hurt.  

Japan gave him an apologetic look.

¨But.... I don't understand. How could he just-¨

¨He has all the right,¨ Germany sighed, ¨I turned away from them, he wants to make sure I don't hurt them again. I couldn't answer him when he asked if I was sure I wouldn't hurt them again. I.... I ..... made Liechtenstein cry.¨ He said painfully. ¨Maybe... maybe it is best I don't talk to them.¨

He made his little sister, his baby sister cry.

Japan shook his head, Germany couldn't think like that. And based on the story, it didn't seem like that was the right way to go anyway. ¨But you said you talked to Liechtenstein before and then he took the phone.¨ He stated.

Germany nodded.

¨Did she seem upset to talk to you?¨

Germany thought about it before shaking his head. ¨No. She was surprised, but I think she said.... she said that she was waiting for me or she missed me or something.¨

Japan nodded, ¨Hai. She wants to talk to you. Don't cut her off. Austria is the one who stopped her, he is the one trying to block the connection. Find a way to reach out to her.¨

¨But I don't want to hurt her aga-¨

¨Ludwig-san,¨ Japan said seriously.

Germany looked at his friend, quiet.

¨Isn't her birthday almost here?¨ He asked.

Germany didn't even have to think about that. He nodded. And his heart twisted painfully, his siblings' birthdays always was a painful time of year.

Even when he tried to not think about them.

¨And will you ever hurt her again?¨ Japan went on. 

Ludwig started to get uneasy. He didn't want to, but want if he somehow did? What if he screwed up again and somehow- what if. No.

No.

This was his baby sister, he may have been selfish in the past but not again. Not again.

Never again.

He would't hurt her ever again.

¨No.¨ He said firmly with confidence.

And Japan actually smiled and nodded. ¨Then don't you think she would want something from her big brother for her birthday?¨ He had been down this estrangement road with family and was now fixing it.

That was a miracle.

And if he could have a miracle like that, then it was possible for Germany. Who was way younger, to make up with his. 

Germany nodded at what he said, he would love to give her something for her birthday but.... Austria didn't want him around. 

¨How would I even give her a gi-¨

¨I'll do it,¨ Italy finally spoke and the two looked at him. ¨Ve~ Austria would never expect me to give Liechtenstein something from you. He would think I would just be over to wish her a happy birthday.¨

¨You are like a son to him,¨ Germany nodded, ¨You're close enough... That will work.¨ He suddenly started to smile, ¨Italy... Thank you.¨

He smiled back. ¨Ve~ You guys are like brothers to me!! And family helps family.¨

Japan nodded in agreement, ¨Yes. It does.¨

Germany felt his heart swell. He had been so terrible to his family and them... But that was in the past now, ¨What should I get her?¨

¨Ohh!!¨ Italy sat up excited, ¨Something sweet and from the heart.¨

He jumped.. He got it...

¨I need a pen and paper.¨

So Germany is going to defy Austria and reach out to his sister. And Italy and Japan are going to help him do it. Someone else is gonna join in with this soon too.
