"Akagi Scheczalier? I'm sorry, what? Who are you? I've never heard that name before,"
"Sila? More like a curse from my past life."
Akagi gasped as he got up. His body was sweaty and he was out of breath. He looked at Melissa sleeping beside him.

'Time moves slowly for me. That's why I appear faster to people. This is my Sila? What a curse.'

"Melissa, get up. It's morning. Go boil me some water,"
"Just five more minutes." She turned back.

'Other demigods have Silas like fire or wind but here I am—Struck playing with time. Time which isn't loyal to anyone, not even kings or queens.'

Akagi boiled some water in a kettle and poured it inside his cup. It was a cold September morning. He stood at his balcony and looked down at the garden. It was all white with fog but he could see Lict shining golden, "Milady, do you need some water?" He asked Vierne.

"Vierne is up?" Akagi mumbled. Vierne was running barefoot on the cold, dewy grass. She seemed tired already and fell on her knees, "I can't do it."
"It's okay. You ran for five minutes. That's a great achievement!" Lict cheered her up.
'Talk about giving false motivation' Akagi sipped his water.

"My stomach hurts!" Vierne complained.
"It's because you don't usually run."
"It's fine, I'll get used to it! Lict, let's train my biceps. I want to punch hard!"
"Well then, why don't you practice some jabs?"
"Yes! I'm sorry—What are those?"
"I'll show you."

Lict and Vierne trained for an hour while Akagi sat on the balcony, reading a book. Melissa slept for the next hour. There were two hours till school. The sun was up soon and Lict and Vierne came inside the halls. "Lict, I'm dying. Prepare food, immediately!"
"Understood, Milady."
Vierne threw herself on the sofa and Akagi sat before her, drinking some boiled water and looking into a newspaper. Melissa was up by then, "Milord, go boil me some water." She sat beside him and hugged his arm, "Go, Milord,"

He gave his cup to her and she finished all the water.
"You drank all?"
"Do we have a shortage of drinking water?" He struck her head with the cup.
"Ow!"

"Now, go boil me some water."
"Yes," She groaned and walked out of the living room. Vierne lay dead on the sofa, "Are you okay?" Akagi asked.
"No," She replied.
"Hmm, honesty is a virtue."

Melissa reached the kitchen and looked at Lict cutting the vegetables and preparing a soup. Melissa grabbed him from behind, "Let me work, Melissa." Lict said.
"I'm giving you some sex energy."
"I'm preparing food, Melissa. I don't need anything like that."
"Are you sure?" She moved her hands down his stomach.

"Melissa!" He blushed and pushed her away, "Look, the eggs burnt!"
"What about my eggs? My ovaries burst the moment I see a full course meal."
"The meal isn't prepared yet though," Lict scrambled the eggs.
"It's ready to be served since the three hundreds." Lict finched.

"Must have been stale by now," He roasted himself.
"No, it's been kept well preserved." Melissa walked closer to him and moved away.
"Milady is hungry—I need to prepare breakfast."
"Vierne is dead currently. She can wait."
"Milady died?!"

"It's a joke." Melissa laughed and moved towards him.
"Melissa, no." He moved away.
"Just a little!"
"No! Go away!"

"Oh Lict—" Akagi grabbed her ear and she shouted, "What the hell are you doing? I told you to get me some water." He looked at Lict, "I'm hungry,"
"Yes!" Lict got back to cooking while Akagi dragged Melissa out of the kitchen by her ear. After they hand their breakfast, Lict got to cleaning the mansion and do other household chores while Akagi and Vierne sat in the library for a lesson.

"Today, we'll study about the twelve holy books of heavenly secrets." Akagi wrote inside her notebook, "Let's do a short quiz—Who wrote them?"
"Gatekeeper Wujin Chen!"
"When?"
"300BC!"
"What are they divided into?"
"Twelve of them represent each of the twelve elite stars!"

"What do the books hold?"
"All knowledge about the universe. Some humans who read even one of the books became psychics and travelled the Astral world."
"Which script the books are originally written in?"

"Hanji! Then, they were then translated into English, Spanish, Russian, French and Sanskrit!"

"...You've been studying."
"Yes, Uchitel."
"Do you know what is the job of the twelve elites?"
"To manage a balance between the various dimensions of the universe, hold the books, protect and serve the gatekeeper and help those who seek them."

"There isn't much to teach you in today's class."
"Actually, I want to know more about 'Gate'. No books mention much about Gate."
"The stars hold Gate too but it has forbidden magic and spells to summon demons so it's not considered a part of the holy books."
"I want to study about demons."
"Is it because of Lict?"

She looked at the table, "No, it's because I'm curious. A breed that is hated by all but understood by none—What is it that they have done? Rebel against gods? And, if one day I rebel against gods, would I become a demon too?"
"I guess."
"In that case, Lord Akagi," She looked at him. Her blue eyes were shining like a sapphire in the dark, "I'll be the devil. Not a demigod everyone needs but a demon everyone deserves."

'She's insane' Akagi looked into her eyes and smirked, 'Just how I like it.'
"It's going to be fun with you, Vierne." His eyes were shining bright red like a ruby.
"Likewise." She smirked back.

The wall clock began ringing. It was time for school. Vierne picked up her books while Akagi picked up the car keys. They went to school. She didn't meet Dasha, Debora or any of the guys. Rumours had spread that they were all rusticated from the school for charges of bullying and other criminal offences to some students. Vierne was happy that she wasn't going to see their face again. She met Grigory in the class and waved at him. He seemed like he wanted to talk but the professor interrupted them and asked Vierne to sit down. Lict and Galkin sat beside her. The first lecture that day was Russian literature.

"We are supposed to perform a play this coming month," The professor announced.
"What's the topic for the play?"
"Please don't make it the same old Romeo and Juliet." Galkin crossed his fingers.
"The play is a tragedy."

Galkin slammed his hands on the table, "Romeo and Juliet"
"Nice guess, Galkin. But you're wrong. The play is called 'Rasputin'"

Vierne looked at the board, "Rasputin?"
