DISSOLVE TO:
EXT. GIRLS CABIN - DAY.
Hannah and Ember walk out from their cabin talking cheerfully.
HANNAH
You wanna go see if there are any leftovers from lunch?
Hannah hops off of the girls' cabin porch. Ember holds the door open for Alice and Kira who exit after them, Ember starts running to catch up to Hannah once the door closed behind her.
EMBER
Sure, why not?
HANNAH
Oh! Before I forget, I got this for you.
Hannah pulls out a small yellow box with light purple wrapping and presents it to Ember, almost dropping it as the younger girls run past them.
EMBER
(sarcastically)
A box? How did you know?
Hannah gives her an annoyed look, but giggles.
HANNAH
Very funny. Open it.
Ember places her hand on the cover of the box and opens it. The lid reveals a silver bracelet with several red rubies in the shape of flames adorning it. The bracelet has Ember's name carved into it. She takes it out of the box and burns the yellow box to free her left hand. Hannah jumps back and giggles afterward. Ember holds the bracelet with both hands.
EMBER
Hannah it's... thank you!
Ember leans in to hug Hannah. Hannah smiles.
HANNAH
Do you like it?
EMBER
I love it! Thank you!
HANNAH
I had it custom made, and the flames are for you! It's also... fireproof!
Hannah smirks.
EMBER
Really!?
HANNAH
Try it out.
Ember slips the bracelet into her wrist. Ember picks up a couple of twigs from the ground and holds them in her palm.
Ember has a straight focused face. The twigs burn to ash but the bracelet is fine.
EMBER
That's amazing! Thank you so much, Hannah.
Ember hugs her best friend again. The smiles fade from the girls' faces and their attention shifts to a group entering the camp. Five people, including some of their friends, have apprehended a tall, muscular man with handcuffs and other restraints.
EMBER
Hey, Bliss, who's that?
BLISS
His name is Richard Creed. We caught him downtown and he's gonna spend some time in the jailhouse.
Ember shakes her head and looks at Creed and notices the many scars on his face; Ember recognizes him.
CREED
Sparky, huh? I remember what you did. Do you?
CAMDYN
Okay, that's enough from you.
The group moves along quickly. Ember freezes.
HANNAH
Ember...
(beat)
Are you ok?
Ember's eyes followed until he enters into their makeshift jailhouse.
EMBER
Yeah, I'm fine. Can that hold him?
HANNAH
Of course, it can, it was built for supers and, from what I've heard, he doesn't even have powers. So how about those leftovers...?
Ember looks away from the closed door of the jailhouse and walks away with Hannah.
