As soon as Steve got downstairs, he began attempting to scope out the source of the noise. Maybe it was just something that had fallen over. At least that was what Steve hoped it was, luckily, at that moment, that was seeming to be the most likely outcome.
A single footstep from behind Steve caused him to quickly spin round and put his fists up, and he instantly regretted not grabbing his shield on the way down.
"Now now Captain. We're just here to talk." A voice said from the shadows.
"What do you want?" Steve said defensively.
"We want... Her." As the figure stepped out of the shadows, Steve became more defensive having realised who it was. It was Jason Meyers.
Before Steve had time to react, a swift blow was applied to the back of his head, and the world went black.
"But for now, you'll do. Oh Captain. You should have listened to Barnes. You really should have stayed away from her. For your own safety." Jason said, grabbing a handful of Steve's hair and pulling his head up to look him in the face. "Take him away boys."
