Sometimes we mistake our first love to be our true love.
Highschool would be the most enjoyable time of your life. It was the time when you've met your closest friends, when you've first realized your talent and when you've first met your first love. It was like a rollercoaster ride, it was full of ups and downs, it's confusing yet it was still made you who you are at the present.
Your first love bloomed. Taeyong turned out to like you as well and as much as you hated to deny it, the day when he confessed was probably one of the happiest days of your life.
Your friends argued that what you felt for Taeyong was just an infatuation but you knew it wasn't. You're the only one who would know if it's true love or not and in your case, it was.
How?
Simply because you've never loved someone as much as how you loved Taeyong again. He was different, completely different from everything.
The day when he told you your relationship won't work broke your heart into millions of pieces and up until the present, your heart is still broken.
Your relationship lasted for 6 years. He broke up with you right after your graduation. Everyone was surprised to hear about the news, they all thought you two will make it up until the end but turns out they were all wrong, even you.
Moving on was really hard, especially when you really love someone. Time doesn't simply heal the wound, you always look for him, longing for his presence everytime.
After the break up, you've heard nothing about him again. He cut all his ties with you and you were devastated when thoughts about him moving on quickly cross your mind. It's still him, it will always be him.
You realized, the world must be playing with you when one time you've seen Taeyong. It was when you went to your university to apply. Turned out he applied on the same university as you. It was really awkward and painful to see him but you were quite relieved to see dark circles around his eyes. He was in pain, just like you.
That was the first and last time you've seen him after your break up. He went to a different university, making you anxious about his reasons. Eventually, you've gotten a little better. Unlike before, thoughts about Taeyong only come across your mind once a day and you've even dated one guy from your department, the Japanese guy, Nakamoto Yuta.
"Do you know why koalas are considered bears?" Yuta asked you, causing you to lift your head up to look at him.
"Why?" You asked back, your brows furrowed together as you wondered what he was telling about.
"Because they don't have koalifications." He said and then bursting out into loud laughter.
You've stared at him with blank expression, couldn't get the fact that he just stated an unfunny joke right inside the cafeteria where students are enjoying their food.
"You're weird." You said, chuckling at him. Yuta's laughter died down. He grinned at you and leaned forward, close enough for your noses to touch.
"But you love me." He smiled, causing your heart to go frenzy.
"Ah where's the lie in that?" You pushed his face away but he leaned back close to yours again.
He then murmured. "I love you."
You were dumbfounded at his sudden words, making you to blush really hard as you moved your head back, away from his. The sudden attack was unbearable, Yuta's too adorable.
"Idiot." You mumbled under your breath, which made Yuta to chuckle. He reached for your hand and gently rubbed his thumb against yours.
"At least this idiot loves you." He said, sincerity is too evident on his voice.
"Aww, my Yuta must've casted a spell on me," You cooed. "because I'm so into you."
Your cheesy line caused him to cringe which eventually made the two of you laugh at your own silliness. It was just one of your soft times together and you never realized you've always looked forward to having more moments with Yuta because a little part of you were still waiting for Taeyong.
Time passed by, you and Yuta graduated and both got decent jobs. Even though he's busy, Yuta never missed the chance to make time for you. He was already sweet before but as time goes by, he gets even more romantic that your heart never became stable when he's around. You were lovestruck, like a child, and it was a magical feeling.
"What do you want to eat?" Yuta asked while the two of you roamed around the mall. It was saturday and he insisted on bringing you out to have some walk, probably one of his excuses to bring you out on a date.
"Anything." You answered as you scan the shops. Yuta turned silent as he thought of what to eat while you just continued to look around. Two cute stuffed toys caught your eyes, and you mentally noted yourself to buy it for you and for your boyfriend. Just as when you were about to turn back to Yuta, your eyes landed on someone which made your whole body tensed, catching Yuta's attention.
A few steps away from you was Taeyong, looking more attractive than before. Your breath hitched as your eyes met his and your heart started to beat twice.
"Y/n?" Yuta called out and followed your gaze. "You know him?"
Without you noticing, you grabbed Yuta's hand, gripping on his tightly as you slowly felt yourself calming down. The corners of your lips slowly curled upwards when you looked at Yuta.
"Yes." You smiled, feeling relieved at your emotions. "He's my ex."
Yuta's eyes widened in surprise when he looked at Taeyong. "Oh you weren't lying when you said you've dated a hot guy before." He chuckled nervously.
"Why are you nervous?" You asked, intertwining your fingers with his. "If you think I still have feelings for him or whatsoever, then you're wrong. My Yuta already casted a spell on me and he has my heart locked somewhere safe."
And that's when you realized you were wrong about Taeyong being your true love. What you felt for him was true but the feelings Yuta brings you were a whole new level compared to what Taeyong made you feel before. Yuta's love is intoxicating, comfortable and nothing made you felt so safe and protected aside from Yuta's arms around you.
