"Why is he so mean to me?" Mary groans as she lay down her head on top of her desk. Shinhye, who was sitting next to her, gives her a pat on the back.
"He's just teasing you." Shinhye says, trying to cheer Mary up.
"If it's just teasing then he's overdoing it." She mumbles. Seyoung and Minyoung laughs at their frustrated friend. They all knew why Taeyong was being all mean to Mary but they can't tell her that. They'll spoil the events.
Mary noticed that Taeyong was only being mean and annoying towards her. At first she felt special but as time passed by, she already found him annoying. During random times he would walk up to her and flick her forehead or if not, he would stare down at her eyes which he knew makes her feel uncomfortable. He's annoying but Mary was still sure Taeyong is nice, though she really couldn't understand why is he being like that to her alone.
"Mary you're so cute you look like an ant." Taeyong says as soon as he sat next to Mary, making her groan just by hearing his voice.
"Is that a compliment or not?" She asks without even looking at him.
"Of course not." He chuckles.
"Wow thanks." She says sarcastically. Taeyong didn't say anythinh afterwards, he just sat next to her, watching Mary with everything she do.
"Do you need help?" Taeyong asks when he sees her struggling to open up her bottle of water. She got surprised by his question but it actually made her smile.
"Can you open this up for me?" She asks nicely, pointing at the bottle.
Taeyong gave her a small smile. "No." Then he left. Mary's smile fell and turned into a pout.
"Taeyong!" She exclaims. "I hate you."
Hearing out her mumble, Taeyong laughs and walked back to her. He grabs the bottle and opened it up for her. "Here you go, little kitty."
Mary groans at the nickname. "I'm not a cat."
"You are!"
"I'm not."
Taeyong ruffles her hair before running away. "You're a cat," he says.
Mary sighs frustratedly at Taeyong, swearing at him under her breath. She wanted to strangle him but patience is a virtue, eventually Taeyong will get tired of teasing her and he'll leave her alone.
But it never happened, what's worse is that Taeyong teased her more. When he stars to tease her, she'll fight back and the two would end up with a dissing war on which she would always be loser. Taeyong always laugh at her because she pouts whenever she gets annoyed. Hearing his laugh, Mary can't help but admit that she actually enjoy the type of relationship she has with Taeyong.
He's only being too playful around her and is serious when not. It's fun to see how he changes attitude when Mary's there and unfortunately, Mary started to think again that she's special for Taeyong. Jumping into conclusions can someday cause her a heartbreak but who cares, she had developed a small crush on the person who always annoy her.
The crush grows bigger when Mary accidentally injures herself during their p.e. class. She sprains her ankle, causing her to tear up because of the pain. No one was making a move, they all just watched Mary crying in pain on the floor but Taeyong suddenly appeared and carried her to the clinic.
While Mary's ankle was being bandaged by the nurse, Taeyong stares at her deeply. His stare is intimidating, making her feel uncomfortable. When the nurse left them alone, Mary get nervous when he suddenly sighed.
"If you're going to scold me then go." She mumbles, avoiding his gaze. She feels Taeyong moving towards her and a groan leaves her lips when he flinched her forehead.
"I was really worried, I thought you died." He says.
Mary shoot him a glare and hits his chest with her fist. "Dummy, I just sprained myself. It won't kill me."
"What if you fell and hit your head? It will kill you." He says back and Mary gets flustered when she notices how his eyes illumnated the worriness he was feeling. He was indeed worried and it makes her happy.
"You're overthinking." She laughs.
"I'm just worried." He bittes his lower lip.
"Thank you." Mary smiles at him and he smiles back.
Fortunately for them, p.e. class is their last class for the day. The nurse advised Mary to stay for a bit to rest and after that, she can go home. She told Taeyong to go ahead but the guy insisted on staying with her. She thought he was being nice but he ended up teasing her every second.
"I'll go get our bags." Taeyong says as he walk towards the door.
"You don't have to. I'll go get mine by myself." Taeyong gives her a blank expression.
"As if you could." He says then he dashes out of the clinic, leaving Mary confused by his actions. If he continues on being nice, she'll definitely fall for him.
Minutes after, Taeyong came back with their bags.
"Let's go." He calls out Mary while she eyes him weirdly. "What?"
"What do you mean 'let's go'?"
"I thought you just hurt your ankle. Did you hit your head? Or is your brain located at your ankle?" Taeyong copying her gesture.
"Taeyong!" She pouts.
Taeyong laughs. "I'll bring you home, that's what it means." He helps her to stand and places her arm across his shoulders. He assists Mary to walk while he carries both of their bags.
Inside the bus, they were seated at the very back. Taeyong makes her sit by the window to prevent people from bumping into her and as the bus moves, Taeyong only has his eyes on the front while she stares at him.
"Hey Taeyong." He hums in response. "Why are you being nice to me?"
Taeyong didn't answer right away. A few seconds have passed before he heaves a sigh and smile, his eyes still in front.
"Because I like you." He confesses, startling Mary. Her heart starts beating fast and she blushes.
"Then why do you always annoy me?"
With that, Taeyong finally looks at her. A wide smile is on his face as he reaches his hand to touch her cheek.
"Because I like you." He repeats. "I like you a lot, Mary."
