《p a r t 1 》
The Kingdom of Dal (moon) is known to be the richest kingdom of all. The king is kindhearted and everyone respected him. He values his family and his kingdom a lot which is why when the queen bore a pretty princess, tears of happiness ran down from his eyes. Everyone was glad to hear about the princess but the whole kingdom was left in chaos when the princess's room was empty one night. The king and the queen was left brokenhearted by the disappearance of their little prinvess but they had to be strong, for the sake of their kingdom and their only child.
The king immediately ordered his men to look for his daughter but years have passed, there were still no trace from the lost princess. An ally kingdom also helped for the search of the princess but having similar results, the princess is still missing. The search for the princess has always been the most heard topic of everyone in both kingdoms.
Abby, a certain girl from the Kingdom of Taeyang (sun), the ally of Kingdom of Dal, was tired of hearing about the same thing over and over again but even so, she hoped that the king and queen would finally find the princess, alive and well. She knew the pain of losing someone you love, she experienced it several times already.
She knew the parents she had always known weren't her real parents. Abby was hurt when her mother told her that she was given away by her real mother but accepted everything for she knew she couldn't change the past. The couple who took care of her died when someone caused fire to their house.
They lived at the farthest side of the kingdom and everyone envied her parents for having such a beautiful daughter like her. Abby is a great childㅡsmart, kind, talented and the one who was said to bring fortune to the family. The enviousness turned into hate, causing Abby to be the outcast of their school.
She literally hated everything especially when her parents died. She wanted to run away but she respected her parents' dream for her: to live a successful life despite all the hate she was receiving. Abby continued to go to school and would always work afterclass. She had to work for her living and she never complained.
Everything was too dull and usual until the royal guards from the Kingdom of Dal came to their school.
Abby was sitting on her usual spot, at the very back of the room, quiet and still, she paid no attention to her surrounding. All of a sudden, a female royal guard approached her and asked if she could look at her torso.
"The princess was said to have a heart-shaped birthmark at her lower rib." The female guard explained. "As part of our search, we were tasked to inspect all the students. I hope you'll cooperate with us."
Her heart pounded after hearing out the explanation. Was it just a coincidence that she literally had the birthmark the female guard just described? She doesn't know.
Abby did as she told and the female guards who were able to see her birthmark gasped in surprise. "Young lady, may I ask how old are you?"
"I'm 17." She answered, causing another gasp from the guards.
"Your parents?"
"The ones who died from the fire a month ago, Yoojung and Kangmin Lee." Abby stated. "If you're curious, they're not my real parents."
Abby was told to explain about everything and she did as she was told. She told them everything her parents told her, from how a cloaked man suddenly came to their house on the fifth of March, carrying her as she was wrapped in a luxurious cloth.
The guards were certain that Abby was the long lost princess and almost immediately, they brought her to meet the king and queenㅡher real parents. Although they only had the stories connected as the evidence, the queen was convinced Abby is her princess because of the instinct of a mother.
The queen explained everything. The one who took her turned out to be the king's older brother, who was envious about his brother's power and success. Abby was glad to hear the truth, that she wasn't given away and turns out the people she admires the most are her real parents.
"I know you just came home but we would like you to meet the prince who you'll marry one day." The queen told her, surprising Abby.
"Right away?" She asked.
"He's a great prince, trust me." Her mother smiled as she caressed Abby.
"Not really right away." Her father said. "We just want you to meet him, to see if you'll get along or not."
"But aren't you supposed to marry the person your heart desires?" Abby asked in a calm tone, she doesn't want to disrespect her parents. "I don't even know this prince."
"Young princess, my daughter." The queen called. "It's not forced. Yes, we want the best for you and he's the best among all but give some time to get to know him, we never know what will happen and if ever you really don't like him, we'll cancel the marriage."
Her father moved towards her and pulled her into a hug. "This is part of being a royalty but trust us and trust the fate, my child."
Abby accepted their request, and decided to spend a whole month of getting to know the prince. If he's a jerk, he's a big no no.
"Let's trust the fate." Abby mumbled to herself as she stared outside of her window, admiring the beauty of the moon. "The moon won't let her princess be in the hands of someone stupid and jerk, right?"
