Epiphany. [Guren Ichinose x Reader] ➥ Book 2. [Semi-hiatus]

Epiphany ~ Chapter 1.

-Narrator's POV-
Guren and Y/N's relationship had become a well known fact among those in the JIDA let alone the occupants of the Moon Demon Company's exclusive safe house; so it was no surprise that they were frequently teased about it, especially when Guren was around, and today it was Naomi who initiated it.

A sigh left her mouth, "What on earth are we going to do with the two of you?" She shook her head at the odd scene in front of her. Y/N was about to make a facemask out of her breakfast as her head slowly teetered towards the bowl of porridge in front of her.

The sleep deprived girl still managed to clutch onto her spoon despite struggling to keep her head away from her breakfast.

Next to her was Guren who ate his breakfast normally. He was as alert as usual, excluding his usual distant attitude which was mainly for ignoring annoying people, questions and statements- just like Naomi's.

"I think Y/N's the one who requires a bedtime, not me. I may be immature but at least I actually sleep." She shot the listening Y/N a sarcastic glare, as she intentionally provoked her,

"Oh, yeah? And if you're so busy sleeping how would you know I'm not?" She lazily retorted,

"My room is next to yours, maybe if Guren stayed in his own room I'd be getting more sleep than I am now." She snapped dropping all formalities towards Guren,

Guren didn't seem to care and instead shrugged, "Is that so? Well since those eye bags are a result of lack of sleep and not ageing we can always take it to my room instead." he replied, playing on her obvious dislike of the whole process of growing up.

Ira rolled her eyes ignoring the snark comment, "That'd be much appreciated, but please do take it easy, I'm sure I also heard your back cracking a few times as well."

Lilith's mouth dropped open at the passive aggressive comment from the youngest, Takana on the other hand had her head on the table, back shaking in laughter, she sat up wiping the tears out of her eyes as she recovered from the insult, "I'm so sorry-" she excused herself as she got up to get a glass of water, her laughter still filling the room,

"Hey! What about me?" Kai furrowed his eyebrows too concerned about being the next neighbour unfortunate to be victim to lack of sleep to even smirk at Ira's remark,

"What about you?" Guren raised his own eyebrows, his eyes briefly narrowing at the youngest,

"Everyone could just sleep in their respective rooms." Takana stated, calmly retaking her seat,

Naomi chuckled, however it was rather emotionless, "We'll see how long it takes you to eat your words."

"What?" She said genuinely confused,

"What?" Naomi acted as if she'd never even opened her mouth,

Guren stood up, "Kai let's go."

"Where?" Kai sulked,

"To work of course." He opened the door,

Y/N finally spoke up, "You were all too caught up with picking on me that you didn't realise the greater evil leaves today," she leaned back on her seat, huffing,

"Oh, you're right!" Miya chimed,

"Hey, what do you mean greater evil, and Miya I thought you were the nice one." He whined,

"Now, now. Master Guren is waiting- do you really want to be late today?"

"She's right, stop sulking and hurry up." Guren agreed,

"Sometimes I think you guys are trying to get rid of me." Kai narrowed his eyes at us girls,

"Oh no,"

"Why would you say that."

"Don't think such horrible things."

All of us chorused in unison, some sounding sarcastic apart from Takana who despite being the only one to voice her honest opinion was the loudest,

"Aha, you're right!"

Everyone looked at the grinning girl, who showed no remorse for exposing everyone else let alone hurting Kai's feelings.

Guren broke the silence, "Alright, we're leaving. We'll be back when Kureto tells us to fuck off again."

"Return safely." Miya smiled at the two, Y/N lazily waved as the door closed.

"Y/N, we have important business to discuss." Naomi finally spoke up,

"Important business?" Y/N echoed, feeling rather perplexed

"Yes, come on." She hurried me out of the dining room, and into the backyard.

"What is it?" Y/N gave her a tired look,

"I'll get straight to the point, are you bored?"

She gave her a suspicious look, "You could say that."

"Do you want to make some cash?" She had a mischievous look on her face,

"Are you trying to tell me to get a job, because I'd love to bu-"

She burst out laughing, "A job? That's way to boring! Look, you're also aware of all that sexual tension between Kai and Takana, right?" Her grin widened

"I wouldn't exactly call it sexual but yes, I get what you mean." Y/N nodded hesitantly,

"Right, and Guren disagrees." She edged,

She thought for a bit, "He hasn't really voiced an opinion, he doesn't seem to be very interested,"

"That's fine, how about we profit from that disinterest." she smirked,

"What do you mean? Like a bet?"

"Exactly a bet, we can make a lot out of him as well." she nodded her head,

"How much are you thinking?" Y/N couldn't help but be curious as she tilted her head,

"Around 32,000 yen." she drawled,

"Oh." The E/C eyed girl gave her a look,

"Each." she finished,

"That's cold." Y/N narrowed her eyes at the cunning Naomi,

"It is," she agreed remorslessly,

"Sounds like a scam." she continued,

"It does." she replied,

"Sounds like a plan." Y/N nodded her head unable to contain the growing smile on her face, she wasn't necesserily in because she wanted the money, but rather the challenge of getting Guren to agree to such a bet as well as lose to it was an exciting one she couldn't resist,

"I knew you would come through." Naomi grinned,

"I'll get an estimate on where he stands, after that you can propose the bet."

"Excellent. By the way, if he disagrees I tend to have ways of changing that." Naomi seemed to be pre-warning Y/N,

"Such as?" Y/N queeried raising an eyebrow, if her methods did compromise Guren's health she would feel inclined to step in.

"We won't have to worry about that. Well, that's as long as Guren agrees." She waved off, strolling back into the kitchen,

Y/N sighed, leaving it for now. She would see how things went on the day.
