Epiphany. [Guren Ichinose x Reader] ➥ Book 2. [Semi-hiatus]

Epiphany ~ Chapter 13.

[This is a very short chapter to pretty much explain how Takana and Kai ended up together]

-Narrator-
Kai and Y/N had returned after abruptly leaving the way they did, but to everyone's surprise they brought Guren, Naomi and a toddler with them. No questions could be asked as they immediately went to Guren's office, apart from Y/N who went upstairs with the child in her arms, but Takana only narrowed her eyes and crossed her arms over her chest as she planned to get answers.

After a while, Takana had gone upstairs to her room, only to conveniently bump into Kai who's heading for his own room, he appeared to be tired, running a hand through his dark brown hair.

She stood in front of him, making him stop in his tracks and look down at her with a confused stare,

"We need to talk," she stated bluntly, however it was very unlikely he was going to give a sensible response and she knew that all too well,

"Oh dear, are you breaking up with me?" He said sarcastically,

"Don't give me that, where have you been?"

"Let's not talk here," he manoeuvred around Takana to open his door and gestured for her to enter before closing it after her, "So you want to know where I've been?" He folded his arms and leaned back against his door,

"When you go rushing out like that, yes I do."

"And what if I told you I can't tell you?" He cocked his head to the side, acting cryptic,

"Why not?" She snapped,

"Military secret." Takana couldn't refute that and instead huffed and pouted,

"Genuine question, I know I piss you off the most, why are you so concerned? I'd expect you to rush to ask Y/N or something-"

"You were the first person I saw since you guys came back, and you're right you really do piss me off-" I explained, "-but I got really scared when I saw you run out like that,"

"Scared? Takana do you actually like me?" He asked suddenly,

Her eyes widened as she figured that she had been caught, as the days had progressed it was only today that Takana had come to terms with her true feelings, this didn't mean she was ready to admit them yet,

Kai noticed this reaction which was very different to every reaction she'd given him, "Why do you look so surprised? I asked you if you liked me because I'm pretty sure you disliked me before,"

What had been an innocent question ended up telling him all he needed to know, all of Takana's chances of hiding anything had vanished,

"Wow, don't tell me-" he began,

"FINE! I do like you!" She exclaimed unable to take it anymore, "I think I like you, but I can't tell because you're flirting with everyone so I'm confused but I also don't like it when you do..." She hid her face behind her hands after catching a glimpse of his surprised face,

"Takana," he finally said,

"What?" She replied too embarrassed to say anymore,

"Look at me."

"I can't, I'm too embarrassed-" She shook her head,

"Fine." He huffed, "You should know that I don't flirt with anyone I'm not comfortable with, even when I'm joking. And we both know I do it to you the most, otherwise you wouldn't be the most annoyed by me."

"So you're joking?"

"I never said that."

"Oh- please tell me what point you're trying to make so I can get over it quickly."

He sighed before he wrapped his hands around the embarrassed girl's wrists and tugged them away from her face, but before she could react in surprise she felt his lips on hers.

It was a only brief kiss which left her with wide eyes afterwards, and even he was slightly surprised by what he just did,

"Why were you so sure I wasn't going to return your feelings?" He finally said, his voice now more gentle,

"I-I don't know." She blinked up at him,

"I'll stop making flirtatious jokes since it makes you uncomfortable, but yes I also like you too, Takana. Your reactions are so cute I can't resist getting them out of you, I didn't think I'd fall for you when it's something I usually do with everyone."

"I don't want you to stop entirely." Takana mumbled, feeling shy. Her cheeks were visibly on fire at this point, "just not with other girls..."

Kai chuckled, finding the bashful Takana cute, "If that's what you want, I'll happily comply," He wrapped his arms around her waist, bringing her in to a hug, which she returned by wrapping her own round his neck.

They enjoyed each other's company for a while until they found themselves lost in each other's kisses, this time more deeper as if it was something they'd both been waiting a long time to do.
