I left the sheriff
At the crack of dawn
There was work to be done
I had to get a move on.
Got a telegram reply
Form Gus, Gabe, and sons
"There's no property here
For any of your sums."
I planned out the articles
Got a quick lunch at noon
Something didn't make sense
I felt out of tune
Made a few doodles
Ideas on a note strewn
About Raven and Leo
The tracks, the bullets, the goons
I needed some answers
Would have to meet the sheriff soon.

I made a promise
I wouldn't dilly dally
I wrote a message
Swiftly and aptly.
"CM come here quick
Here's a note
Oh! Darn it!
You can't go on the boat.
Ron ... you deliver this
so Denver knows what I wrote
No need for confusion
Or for misquotes
Wait a while and bring a reply
From the riverboat."
Ron took the envelope
Which was sealed tight
He rushed off to the dock
Soon had the boat in sight.
He handed it over
To one of the crew
He watched the fishes some
Returning with no news new.
