I read the poster
For the third time
My mind unable to see
It wandered back to
The promises
Made by Billy.
Again, he'd gone
And interfered
This time
He was needed
But what about
The next.
Possibly
A day
Would come
When Rue
Would move on.
What then?
A deputy
A brother
A friend
Those he could never be
Only a protector
Wanted or unwanted
That's all he'll be.
He would be left
Being a protector
Always standing
Guarding, watching
Nothing more
Nothing less.
He would forever be
At the sidelines
Never would he be
