A Drink with a Friend
Boredom came
From standing idle
I left to the saloon
Enjoying a drink for
A couple of days of work
Jacob followed me
Invited himself along
He started asking questions I did not
Want to answer
Or I did not know how
Glaring at him
For trying to reopen my healing wounds
I asked CS for another
Knowing it was going to be
A long day
Jacob offered to listen
To a tale I did not want to tell
He was practically a stranger after all
And besides I had another man
To tell all my troubles to
He began asking me
About what makes me, well me
To which I responded
Saying I had nothing to hide
Jacob started with hashing up the past
Well the past as in a few days before
Asking me if he had the wrong impression
Of my friendly welcome of him to BG
I assured him we are just friends
Nothing more, nothing less
Though he wished to know more
But not just about me

He confessed he wanted to have
A drink with me
To ask about Ruechari
But I do not think
That was his only motive
Yet, I wouldn't turn down
an opportunity
For free drinks
Though I advised he
Ask questions about Rue to her
And not me
He informed me
He had a date with Rue
I decided to bring our
Conversation back around to him
But his answers were vague
Nothing deep
It seemed Jacob wanted to know my secrets
But was unwilling to reveal any of his own
He promised to do this again
Even inviting me to the
Big Top as well
Though my curiosity was spiking
A look I've never worn before
Crossed my features
Leaving me in deep thought
I was dismissed
