They passed a sign that said Welcome to Hawkins. "Where are we going?" George asked. Matthew didn't answer. "Matty." Joanna said. "We're going to Dad's hometown." Matthew said. "Isn't that town abandoned?" Mia asked. "Yes! Matthew what are you thinking!?" Stella said. "If it's abandoned then it'll take longer for them to find us." Matthew said. "Well where are we gonna go in this abandoned town?" Sammy asked. "I don't know." Matthew whispered. "What?" Mason asked. "I said I don't know, okay!? Not yet anyways." Matthew said. "You guys calm down." Millie said. "Millie's right." Samantha said. "Can we even find food here?" Richard asked. "Our parents just got taken and your thinking about food?" Bella asked. "It's kinda what I do if you haven't noticed." Richard said. "Would you guys just shut up?" Stanley said. "Maybe we can make like a bunker?" Jasmine suggested. "Or we can go to Dad's old house or mom's or the cabin?" Joanna suggested. "Or dad's tree house." Matthew said. "I don't care where we go as long as it's close and I don't have to be stuck next to Richard." Mason said. "For a Sinclair you act like a Wheeler." Richard said. "What's that supposed to mean?!" Matthew and Joanna asked. "Nothing." Richard said. They arrived at Mike's house. Joanna smiled. "It's just like Mom described it." Joanna said. Mason had his arm around her. Matthew looked around and opened the door to the basement. "What is it?" Bella asked. "The basement." Matthew said. Joanna went to him. Everyone followed. "Should we you know go down?" Mia asked. Matthew nodded. Joanna was about to go in first but Matthew stopped her. "I'll go first." Matthew said. Joanna sighed then nodded. Mason grabbed her hand and they went down. The lights turned on and everyone screamed. "What? There was a back door." Sammy said. Matthew picked up a pillow and threw it at him. "Hey!" Sammy said. "Asshole." Matthew said. They started looking around. Matthew saw a photo of Alex and Mike. Joanna went to him. "What is that?" Joanna asked. Matthew handed her the picture. Joanna smiled. "It's mom and dad, isn't it?" Joanna asked. Matthew nodded. "I get why dad always told us to be careful and protect each other and..." Matthew said. "If we love someone don't fuck it up." Joanna said chuckling. Her eyes were watery. "We'll get them back." Matthew said. "You don't know-" Joanna said. "Yes I do. What did Mom always tell us?" Matthew said. "Don't ever break a promise." Joanna said. "Exactly, and I promise you we will get them back." Matthew said. Joanna nodded. Matthew decided to go upstairs into Mike's room. He looked around and saw something. It was in a black box. Mike entered Matthew's room. "Okay, time for bed. Turn that off." Mike said. "But dad I was just about to win." Matthew said. "Come on Matthew." Mike said. "Fine but you have to tell me another story about you and mom." Matthew said. "Fine, I would think only your sister was into them." Mike said. Matthew got in bed and Mike sat next to him. "Are you kidding? You and mom fought monsters from another dimension! How is that not interesting?!" Matthew said. "Okay, okay. which one do you want to hear?" Mike asked. Matthew thought for a minute. "About the necklace you never gave mom." Matthew said. "Really? Okay. I had gotten you mom a necklace and I decided to not give it to her." Mike said. "But why?" Matthew asked. "Because she had gotten me that guitar." Mike said pointing at the guitar in Matthew's room. "And also like the day after she broke up with me." Mike said. "What did you do?" Matthew asked. "I lied. And we both know you mom doesn't like that." Mike said. Matthew nodded. "Then the mind flayer came back and we didn't get back together until a month later and I guess I forgot to give it to her." Mike said. "Do you think you'll ever go back for it?" Matthew asked. "I don't know I never thought about it." Mike said. "Do you think... me and Joanna will ever have a relationship like yours and mom's?" Matthew asked. "Honestly, I hope it's better. Dealing with the mind flayer, your mom got hurt so many times. I thought I was never going to see her again for 2 years." Mike said. "But you two got through it and had me and Joanna." Matthew said. "Best decision of my life." Mike said. Alex came in the room. "Goodnight, sweetie." Alex said. She kissed Matthew's forehead. Mike got up and Alex left the room. He was about to walk out the room. "Dad?" Matthew asked. Mike turned around. "One day I'm going to get that necklace for you, I promise." Matthew said. Mike smiled. "Tell you what, if you find it, you can keep it until you've found someone like your mother. Only when you know you want to be with them for the rest of your life." Mike said. Matthew nodded. Matthew opened the box and inside was a necklace. He carefully picked it up and looked at it. It was a simple chain necklace with a lock in the middle. Matthew smiled. "The necklace." Matthew whispered. "What necklace?" Bella asked. Matthew jumped. "Do you knock?" Matthew asked. "Sorry." Bella said. Matthew sighed and looked back at the necklace. Bella went next him. "Who' s is that?" Bella asked. She was touching Matthew's hand but neither of them noticed. "My mom's. Or would of been my mom's if my dad had given it to her." Matthew said. "There's writing in the back." Bella said. Matthew turned the necklace around and it said "Always and Forever" In small writing. Matthew looked down and saw his and Bella's hands were touching. Bella looked where he was looking and quickly took her hand away. She started blushing. "I, um, I'ma go to the basement." Bella said. Matthew nodded. He had this weird feeling in his stomach. "Could you be anymore stupid?" Bella whispered. He had super hearing like Alex and heard her from downstairs. He smiled looking down. He unhooked the necklace and put it on. He put it inside his shirt. He went downstairs. Mason was in the living room. "What are you doing here?" Matthew asked. "I'm looking around." Mason said. "Alright just don't break anything." Matthew said. All of a sudden Matthew started feeling a cut in his stomach. Mason looked at him. "Hey you okay?" Mason asked. Matthew held his stomach then he fell down the stairs. "Matthew! Holy shit!" Mason said. He ran to him. *Alex* Alex screamed. "Get away from her!" Mike yelled. "You know that saying, "like mother like son" that never could be more true." The mind flayer said. He was in his human form. "What are you talking-" Alex said. She screamed as the mind flayer stabbed her again. He grabbed her face and Mike tried to get out the chair. "Aw how sweet. I mean that whatever you feel he feels." The mind flayer said. Mike stopped and looked at him. "That's right your precious little Matthew is feeling the blood come out of his stomach as we speak." The mind flayer said. "I'll kill you!" Alex said. "Wouldn't be the first time you tried." The mind flayer said. *Matthew* "Matty! Matty come on please. What's happened!?" Joanna said. She asked Mason. "I don't know it just appeared and he fell down from the stairs." Mason said. Bella covered the cut to stop the bleeding. "Matty it's going to be okay." Joanna said. Matthew looked at her. "Mom." Matthew said. He fell unconscious. "No, no, no. Matty!" Bella said. Joanna tried healing him but it wasn't working. "For god's sakes someone help him!" Bella yelled. She started crying. *Alex* "You better pray to god I don't get out of these chairs." Jackie said. "This is bullshit!" Yajaira said. Alex screamed. The mind flayer stabbed her again. "Son of a bitch!" Mike yelled. Alex's eyes started to turn blue. She looked at the mind flayer and he was thrown to the wall. "Yes! Finally!" Dustin said. Alex looked down at her stomach and it started healing. *Matthew* Matthew's eyes opened and they were blue. They closed and he started healing. "Bella. Bella, look." Sammy said. Bella looked up and saw Matthew was healing. When he was done healing Joanna and Bella shaked him lightly. "Matthew? Matty?" Joanna asked. "Matty please wake up." Bella said. Matthew's eyes started opening. Joanna sighed in relief. Bella jumped up and hugged him. Matthew was shocked but hugged back. Bella stopped hugging him. They stood up and Bella pulled him by the collar. "If you ever do that again I swear I'll murder you." Bella said. Samantha, Mason, George, Jasmine, Sammy, Millie, Richard, Mia, Stella, Stanley and Joanna's eyes widened. "Geez calm down. I'm still here. What's the big deal anyways?" Matthew asked. "Big deal? The big deal is that I- Joanna is my best friend your her brother. Losing you would break her that's it." Bella said and let him go. George smile and shook his head. Joanna hugged Matthew. "What happened?" Joanna asked. "I saw mom she was getting stabbed and dad and the rest of our parents I don't know all I know is they might be getting stabbed and killed." Matthew said. "Oh my god." Samantha said. "Great. Just great." Mason said. "We have to save them!" Jasmine said. "And we will." Sammy said. "First of all shouldn't Matthew's mom be saving our parents she did it multiple times why can't she do it again?" Stella asked. "You are not blaming my mother." Joanna said. "I am just stating facts!" Stella said. "Shut up! My mom hasn't used her powers in years! She could be weak!" Matthew said. "Don't raise your voice at her!" Stanley said. "I can raise my voice to whoever I want especially if they are attacking my mom." Matthew said. "You guys we can't be fighting." Mason said. "Just stop." Samantha said. "You know what I'm not going to stand here and listen to you talk crap about my mom." Matthew said. He walked to the door. "Matty where are you going." Joanna said. "Yeah mama's boy." Stella said. Matthew's eyes turned red. Everyone went quiet. Matthew put his hand up but then walked out the house. "Matty!" Joanna said. "You see what you did! His parents are in danger so are the rest of ours but that doesn't give you an excuse to trash talk his mom! She took care of all of us and our parents! You are sick!" Bella said. She ran out the house and saw Matthew going into the woods. She ran after him. *Past* "Alex?" Mike asked coming into the tree house. Alex was in a corner crying. She looked up and saw Mike. "hey, what's wrong? you missed going to the arcade." Mike said. Mike sat next to her. "Um Adrian he... he's dead." Alex said. "What? How?" Mike asked. "A car hit him in front of our house and we took him to the hospital but he didn't make it. I need some space so I came here." Alex said sobbing. Mike hugged her. "Alex, I'm so sorry." Mike said. Alex cried in his arms. He kissed the top of her head. "Mike?" Alex asked. "Yeah?" Mike asked. "Richie said to ask you what something was." Alex said. "Okay? What do you want to know?" Mike asked. He took out a water bottle from his backpack and started drinking it. "What is sex?" Alex asked. Mike spit out the water and started coughing. "Mike!" Alex said. She helped him. "I'm okay. I'm good." Mike said. "Are you sure?" Alex asked. "Yeah. Just why do you want to know what that is?" Mike asked. "Because Richie wouldn't tell me." Alex said. "We will talk about it later." Mike said. "Okay." Alex said. They sat there hugging. *present* Bella saw him go into a tree house. "Matthew! Matty!" Bella said. "What do you want?" Matthew asked. "They're idiots okay. Your mom is an amazing person. But we need you we need everyone if we're going to get our parents back." Bella said. "I'm not working with them." Matthew said. Bella hugged him. Matthew hesitated but hugged back. "What they said about your mom is bullshit but please Matty, you and your sister are powerful alone but together you guys can help save our parents. I'm not asking you to forgive them I'm asking you to help us get our parents back. Then you can go back into hating us." Bella said. "Who said I hate you?" Matthew asked. "Um... no one just I figured you know uh you know what nevermind. I'm just go back to the house." Bella said. Bella started walking away. Matthew grabbed her arm and turned her around. Bella bumped into his chest softly. "Sorry." Bella said. Her cheeks turned red. Matthew smiled. "First of all I made you bump into me and second your cheeks are redder than usual." Matthew said. "No their not." Bella said. "Whatever you say, Hanscom." Matthew said. "I told you not to call me t-" Bella started. "Stop talking." Matthew said. "What?" Bella asked. All of a sudden Matthew took Bella to a corner and covered her mouth. A giant black arm stabbed through the floor of the treehouse. Bella screamed. "Stay here, alright?" Matthew said. Bella quickly nodded and Matthew teleported to the bottom of the treehouse. "There you are." The mind flayer in human form said. "Who are you?" Matthew asked. "Oh me? I'm the person that took your parents and stabbed your mom. But she is starting to regain her strength so I'll kill you to kill her." The mind flayer said. "Your scared of my mom, aren't you? You know she can kill you but she just doesn't know how. So your gonna kill me to kill her because you can't kill her." Matthew said. "You don't know what your talking about." The mind flayer said. "Can I ask you something? Have you always been such a dick?" Matthew asked. The mind flayer got mad and his arm tried to stab Matthew. Matthew stopped it with his telekinesis. The mind flayer tried to use another arm but Matthew stopped that one too. "So how has life been?" Matthew asked. The mind flayer brought his arms back. "What is this?" The mind flayer asked. "I don't know, but want to tell me your dying wish?" Matthew asked. "How about you tell me yours." The mind flayer asked. "Gladly." Matthew said. He turned invisible. "Really? That's how you want to-" The mind flayer started. Something punched him in the face then kicked him in the stomach. He fell to the floor. Matthew stopped being invisible and grabbed the mind flayer by his shirt. He picked him up and slammed him against a tree. "I'm done playing nice. Where are my parents motherfucker!?" Matthew said. "You know, even your mom had a weakness." The mind flayer said. "Yeah well I don't. So tell me where they are or I swear to god I'll kill you right here." Matthew said. "It was always your dad. So you weakness has to be her." the mind flayer said. He pointed to the top of the treehouse. Matthew looked. "I don't know what your talking about." Matthew said. The mind flayer smiled. His arm broke the bottom of the tree holding the treehouse. Bella screamed. Matthew's eyes widened and he teleported to Bella and put a force field around them both. The treehouse fell and Matthew and Bella were under the broken parts. The force field was protecting them. "Come close to me okay?" Matthew said. Bella did what he said. Matthew put his arms on the force field and it got bigger until it exploded and the broken parts were off them. It created an earthquake. The mind flayer was gone. *Joanna* Everyone felt the earthquake and ran outside. They saw a man running. Joanna stopped him with her powers. She teleported in front of him. She made cuffs of electricity. "If you try to escape those cuffs will shock you to the point where you'll wish you were dead." Joanna said. She picked him up and took him inside.
