Patton's POV

Alright, new job, new opportunities! Working as a security guard is definitely not what I'm used to, but it pays better than the pet shop and I need to pay rent somehow. Apparently my landlord doesn't accept positivity instead of money. So here I am at Freddy Fazbear's, the normally bright building looking kinda creepy in the dark. I would have preferred to work as some part of the day shift so I could see all the happy little kiddos running around with nostalgia-powered pizza sitting around pretty much anywhere you look. Seriously, how do kids these days manage to get pizza stuck to the underside of tables? It has to be on purpose, right? They couldn't have done that on accident.

Moving on, I arrive to work early so I can hopefully get an idea as to what I'll actually be doing. I know I'm basically going to be watching the place, making sure no one breaks in and stuff but other than that, I'm clueless. It can't be too complicated, and I'll get a chance to see the inside of the employee's only area. I've always wanted to have access to one of those areas just to see what's so secretive about them. It may be nothing interesting, just some boring equipment or a vending machine but I still have to know.

I unlock the front doors, making sure to re-lock them behind me. I don't need someone breaking in on my first day, especially since there's not much I could do if someone actually breaks in. Before I can get caught up in the nostalgia-inducing environment, I go over to where my office should be. I can always explore the place later, I just gotta make sure that I can find the security office afterwards. It makes sense that the office would be near the back of the building since it might ruin the magic for the kiddos.

The office is pretty much what'd you expect, computer for looking through the cameras, basic desk chair, fan, but there are two doors so that's kinda cool I guess. They've also got some pretty neat posters of the animatronics hanging up, maybe the last night guard liked the place as a kid?

I sit down in the spinny-chair and turn on the computer, being greeted by a view of the stage with Freddy and Bonnie in view. I'm pretty sure that there was a sign sitting in the window saying that Chica was undergoing repairs at the moment, but it was phrased in one of those 'Chica is currently on vacation, she'll be back soon!' ways. To be fair, as a kid I probably wouldn't have understood what they meant if they had just said that the robot needed repairs so I understand why they made it like that.

I scroll through the cameras a bit before deciding to look around in person. Like always, the main room appears to be set up for a birthday party with a row of party hats laid out on each of the tables. As a kid, I would've loved to have my own birthday here. It's got everything a kid could want; pizza, singing robots, and brightly-colored balloons. I mess around with the curtain to Pirate's Cove, spotting Foxy inside as usual.

As I'm exploring the restaurant, I hear what sounds like crying coming from the parts and services room. I could've sworn no one was in there when I was looking through the cameras, but that one was really dark...

I open the door to the repair room, "Hello?" I call out quietly. The voice seemed like it was coming from a child, so I didn't want to frighten them.

The crying stops and I step further into the room, looking around in an attempt to find the sad kiddo. The door slams shut behind me and I jump, finding nothing there. The door probably shuts automatically if someone isn't holding it open.

All I find in the room is the usual random bits and pieces to repair the animatronics like replacement masks. I guess I was just hearing things...

"AAAHHHHHHHHH"

"Who're we looking for this time?" An intern asks, giving the detective her coffee.

"Patton Baker, the kid hasn't been seen in a few days, family got worried," The detective answers, looking through an unmarked file.

The intern, knowing she refers to most people as kids asks, "How old is he?"

"Twenty-two, according to the family he had just gotten a new job. Seems like he went missing on his first day," She looks up at the intern, "What do you think?"

"Well, where did he work?" They ask, needing more information.

"The Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria on Main," She answers, "That place has a great reputation for killing off their employees," She mumbles.

The intern thinks for a moment, "If he did go missing on his first day, wouldn't his boss call in to report that he didn't clock out or something?" They reason.

The detective shrugs, "Maybe, but the owner of the franchise has never been the best at calling the police when needed."

"What's that supposed to mean?" They question, expecting to get one of the detective's long, but interesting, stories in response.

"It's probably nothing, I just don't trust the guy. It's probably because he's a forty-something year old man that runs a children's restaurant, it's the same thing with the owner of Chuck E Cheese."
