"I'd always known I was strange. I never dreamed I was peculiar."
-Miss Peregrine Home for Peculiar Children

                         .•°•°•.

Ever since I was young, my grandfather, Grandpa Joon, always told me stories about a home that he lived in when he was little and the people that also lived there.

"Grandpa Joon! Can you tell me more about the people there?" I asked my grandpa when I was little.

"Well of course my little Soobin. Just wait here for a moment." Grandpa Joon went to his bedroom and came back with a small box.

"Soobin, the people that lived there are different. They're people with special abilities." Grandpa Joon pulled out a photo from the box and showed it to me. It was a little girl wearing a crown, standing straight, and had an eerie stare.

"Grandpa, what's special about her?" I asked him confused cuz I thought that he's just a normal boy.

Grandpa Joon smirked. "Look at her feet." He pointed at the girl's feet.

I looked at the her feet and realised, her feet was off the ground!

I stared in shocked and looked at my grandpa. "She's floating!"

"No Soobin, the girl is levitating." My grandpa chuckled at my cute reaction.

"There's more Soobin." The rest of the day he showed me more photos of peculiar children. Like a boy that has bees living inside him, a boy that can produce fire out of his hands and many more!

He also told me monsters that haunt the peculiar children. They had long tongues, pale skin, sharp claws and they're really tall. I often had nightmares of those creatures when I was little but I always remind myself of the way Grandpa Joon fought those monsters.

I used to love all the stories that he told me. In show and tell at school, I told my classmates about the peculiar children and the monsters but, none of them believed me and they laughed at me. When Grandpa Joon picked me up from school I told him that I don't believe at the children and the monsters. He looked at me with a blank face and said a plain 'okay'.

I'm now 19 working in a small store in a gas station. I'm starting to arrange these adult diapers in a pyramid form. It was almost done when someone suddenly kicked the bottom part, causing it to collapse. It's actually my classmate with his group of friends.

"Hey look! It's that kid who tells stories about children with superpowers!" One of them said. All of them laughed and I just didn't care. I went to the staff room to change since my shift is done. My phone suddenly rang and it was dad.

"Hey dad what's wrong?"

"Soobin can you please check your grandfather at his house. Lately he has been doing crazy stuff and I dont want him to cause any trouble."

"Sure. I'll go to his place." I hung up my phone and went out. I was about to walk to a bus station when a car stopped in front of me.

"Hey Soobin! Heading home?"

"Yeah Yoongi hyung. I'm just gonna check on my grandfather first."

"Well hop in. I'll take you there."

I hopped in his car and headed to my grandfather's house. Yoongi hyung is my friend, well my only friend. He dropped out of high school a few years ago and he also works at the gas station.

"Huh Soobin, is your grandfather's village this creepy?"

"No. It's usually bright here."

We're almost at his house but, we saw a man, standing in front of his house while wearing his pyjamas. When I looked at him, he had plain white eyes that freaked me out but thought that he might be a blind guy.

We arrived at my grandpa's house. It was quiet, dark and had an creepy atmosphere.

"I'm heading home Soobin. Call me if you need me." I waved goodbye at Yoongi hyung and he left.

I knocked at the door bit no one was answering. I knocked again but still no answer.

"Grandpa Joon! It's me Soobin, can you let me in?!" It was still quiet and nobody was opening the door.

Maybe something is wrong. I grabbed a spare key that is hidden under a pot and opened the door. When I went inside, it's like his whole house was turned upside down. His tables and chairs are flipped, papers are scattered everywhere, and vases and glass are shattered.

"Grandpa Joon where are you?" I shouted. I checked every room and every closet but I still can't find him.

I noticed the backdoor at the kitchen was open. I assumed that he might went outside. I grabbed a flashlight and went out. At the back of Grandpa Joon's house is a forest so I was kinda scared since there might be wild dogs or bears that can kill me.

"Grandpa Joon?" I heard one of the bushes rustle. I went thru it and I saw a terrifying scene before me.

It was a body with cuts, bruises and blood everywhere. His clothes are shredded apart and and soil was on his body, causing his cuts to get infected. I looked closer and it was Grandpa Joon. He looked so weak and lifeless. I went to him and grabbed him in my arms.

"G-grandpa Joon!" I let out a loud sob. I heard more rustling sounds from the bushes. I looked up and saw a creature with no eyes, has pale skin, it was taller than me and had a mouth with many long tongues swirling around.

I let out a blood curtailing scream  and scooted back with Grandpa Joon in my arms.

I scooted more when, I felt a cold metal against my right hand. It was a gun that Grandpa Joon owns. The creature's tongue was about to grab me but, without hesitation, I grabbed the gun and shot it right in the creature's mouth. It let out a loud shriek and it ran away.

"S-Soobin..."

I looked down and Grandpa Joon was struggling to keep his eyes open. He used all of his energy that he had. He whispered something and I didn't hear it. He gestured me to come closer.

"Find the loop."
