Energies of the World

Lucas

Despite the sun, the weather is windy at the Black Mist Pack territory. At the open field, thousands of wolves aging above fourteen are uniformly assembled. They are obviously waiting for me who already called for three pack assemblies since I arrived yesterday.

I feel sorry for these young pups who are looking very eager in the sun. When I was at that age, I wanted nothing more than to lay on my bed and perhaps read a book or two. These young pups are the opposite of me. It is the time of their life when they want to prove something. To be exact, they want to prove to me, their alpha, that they are something.

To be honest, they can just lay around in their house and I can still feel whether their wolves are strong enough. I can sense from afar whether or not their wolves have the potential to be warriors. For those who have weaker wolves, there are a lot of other things that they can do, like managing or organizing things. Moon Goddess knows how bad I am at organizing stuff.

The pack was arranged by their age group. On the far left, the group of fifteen-year-olds to twenty are on a square formation. Next to them are the wolves aging from twenty one-year-olds to thirty. After them are the wolves who are thirty-year-olds to forty. Lastly are the forty-plus years old and older. They are all standing straight and waiting for me.

I silently praise the former Beta Peters for keeping the pack so orderly and disciplined why I was away.

I reach the field and everyone looks at me and Tristan who is standing behind me.

"Hello." I greet them. Just yesterday, we had a meeting too. But that was for a whole different purpose.

I really hate explaining, so I look at Tristan, expecting him to do the explanation for me.

Tristan is looking at the crowd when I glance at him. To be exact, his attention is caught by a blonde woman standing in front of the second group. He is so enthralled by her sight that he fails to notice that I am looking at him.

A few seconds passed and everyone's attention was with the clueless Tristan. It was only when Ethan snickered that Tristan fell out of his trance and realized that we are all looking at him. His face looks really red as he returns my gaze.

I inwardly sigh and decide to save my beta from more humiliation by nodding at him as a signal that he can start explaining the reason why we are here.

Tristan looks unsure for a few seconds but eventually clears his throat and starts speaking.

"Good afternoon, everyone. We are all gathered here because of the unexpected attacks against our pack last night. As all of you know, our attackers were very unusual. In fact it was the first time that our pack has seen these kinds of creatures." Very good Tristan, I knew you could do it. Except, it is not the first time that our pack saw their kind. But that is just a small detail.

"Those creatures which attacked us are called "wolf-like" creatures. They are neither human nor wolf. They are most especially not like our kind, werewolves. They have an outstanding ability of healing that it is almost impossible for us to defeat them. In fact, a couple of our warriors were wounded last night. If it was not because of Alpha Lucas, we probably had a huge number of deaths." I look around and see some members draw closer to their mates or family members. Some grab their mates and lowly growl.

"These creatures are being controlled by black magic and as Alpha Lucas told us, the only way to kill them is to crush their hearts." Murmurs are heard around. A lot of them are surprised by the mention of black magic. But since it was Tristan who told them, there is not an ounce of doubt that can be seen on their faces. I give them a nod of approval.
