Hey! I thought I'm a mess by Bebe Rexha was perfect for this chapter and flowed well (:
___________________________________The night before Saturday, I had trouble sleeping. I'd called my parents before I went to bed and I was worried the shaking in my voice would give me away. Luckily it hadn't and I'd gotten off without a hitch, though I did spend the majority of the night turning in my sleep. It wasn't only the fact that I was going against any morals I had left. I was nervous even considering the party. It wasn't something I would have gone to in high school, let alone now.
I spent the majority of the day, repeating mantras to myself and writing down every small thing I should do at the party. I'd never been this obsessive with my thoughts, but I felt too self-conscious. I didn't know any of these people. For all I knew, they'd scrutinize me at every turn. I had to be prepared.
Josephine hadn't fared any better. I thought she would collapse at how many times she paced the dorm room. Students watched her as she made several laps up and down the halls, biting down on her nails and pressing her fingers to her temples. I knew this was a stressful affair, but surely it wasn't that bad?
After I spent what felt like forever picking out the right outfit, which was my favorite long red checkerboard skirt paired with a baggy cardigan and black flats, I helped Josephine simmer down by complimenting her on her own choice of clothing.
Staring at my clock, which read eight-fifty, I knew it was getting close to curfew; my parents would be expecting a call. Making it quick and short, I told them all was well and made sure to dial the number Annie's friend had given us.
To my surprise, both Annie and her friend met us downstairs. When we made it to the parking lot they had a sleek black limousine waiting for us. I didn't question a thing as we all piled in, but it didn't stop me from staring in awe. My family had money, yes, but never had I been transported by limo. My parents owned escalades.
I didn't like the atmosphere as soon as I sat down. The limo was packed and the squealing girls inside it bombarded us as soon as we stepped inside. They tried asking personal questions about our private lives and asked if we resided at another sorority. Being me, I proudly announced that we lived on campus and what my days consisted of. I could tell for a moment I was boring them, but despite all this, they welcomed us with open arms.
The entire time, Josephine sat silent, not saying a thing.
Before I knew it we were pulling up to the front of a large house that looked more like a mansion than anything. It was grand, completed with blasting music and several students littering the lawn. In large block letters read ALPHA DELTA PI.
"Ladies!" A random girl out of the group spoke, straightening the hem of her golden dress. "It's time to party!"
I took a deep breath as we all piled out towards the house.
I hope everyone's day is going well. Thank you for giving this a read.
