The sixteen year old held his arms crossed across his chest as he leaned against the wall of body coolers, trying to keep his eyes away from the tanned boy that laid on the metal table. Although he knew Scott wasn't actually dead, which the occasional thump of the alpha's heart reassured, the boy couldn't help but feel nauseous at the sight of the boy on the table.

King had known the older boy since he was young. In all honesty, he wasn't sure when he actually showed up, but any time he thought about his childhood, the McCall boy was always around, playing with the two siblings in the yard after school.

He was snapped out of his thoughts as the door to the morgue opened, revealed a disheveled looking Melissa McCall. The nurse was wiping the streaks from her cheeks, getting rid of her 'mourning mother' look.

"I still hate this plan." She said as she approached the group, standing at her son's side. "I mean, this is pretty significantly terrifying; he looks dead."

"Don't worry, Melissa." King spoke up, gaining the attention of the nurse. "He's not." When she gave him a strange look, the boy just pointed to his ear, earning a nod from the woman before her eyes widened in realization. "It's a long story." The sixteen year old said before she could speak.

Noshiko, who noticed the woman's unease still, reached out to her. "Give me your hand."

The older McCall shot a look around the group, not knowing the woman well enough to trust her. After all, she could have just killed her son.

"It's okay." Stiles assured her, nodding his head for her to go ahead. And she did, placing her hand in the other woman's.

Kira's mother placed the nurse's hand on her son's chest, and everyone froze, the supernatural of the group listening for the beat.

"Wait for it," Noshiko said, and a second later, the alpha's heart beat once. Just once.

Melissa let out a sigh of relief before she took her hand back. "Is that enough to keep a werewolf alive?"

"Enough for an alpha."

The nurse nodded. "How much time do we have?"

"Forty-five minutes."

"And what happened after forty-five minutes?"

"I bring him back the same way." Kira spoke up, the nervousness clear in her tone and the way her voice shook slightly.

"No, I mean, what happens if he stays like this longer than forty-five minutes?"

Everyone stayed silent at Melissa's words, glancing at nervously at one another. Of course they all knew what would happen, but they were all too scared to tell the McCall woman.

"No one's told her?" Noshiko asked in amazement, glancing around the group, making the nurse even more nervous.

"What?" She said. "What happens after forty-five minutes?"

The room was silent for a moment before Kira's mother spoke. "He dies."

"I still don't like this plan." Liam complained as the two betas marched down the hallway, keeping their eyes peeled and heads down.

The older of the two just rolled his eyes and let out a soft sigh. "So you've said."

"What if he actually dies? Then what?"

"Then we're alpha-less." King said in a monotone voice as he glanced over to see the unamused look on the other boy's face. "Look, it's going to be fine. I know for a fact none of us are willing to risk Scott's life just to catch this guy. He's not gonna die."

"But what if he does?"

"Will you just shut up?" The Stilinski said in annoyance before pulling out his phone and dialing his brother's number. The spastic boy picked up almost immediately. "Can you see us?"

"Yeah," Stiles said from the other end. "Yeah, looks like we're in. Come back to base."

King couldn't help but let out a soft scoff. "Base? Miec, it's a hospital room."

"Listen, just get your puppy asses back here, ok?" The boy snapped in classic Stiles fashion before the phone beeped, signaling the olde brother had hung up the phone.

The sophomore glanced over at Liam, rolling his eyes as he stuffed the phone into his pocket, knowing the other beta heard the entire call. Perks of supernatural hearing.

"Miec?" The blonde questioned, raising his brows in the older boy's direction.

"Yeah, it's a family nickname. I call him 'Miec' and he calls me 'Moe'. We have since we were kids that couldn't pronounce each others' names."

"What is it short for?"

King laughed and shook his head. "Oh, no. Stiles will kill me if I told you." The two fell silent for a moment. "Come on, kid; let's get to 'base'."
