"bubba." Kaia pouted rubbing her eyes walking into her older brothers bedroom, "ni'mare." Hezekiah frowned rubbing his eyes and turning on the lamp on his bedside table.

"Come in, come Kay. Sleep with bubba, I'll protect you from the monsters." Kaia held back a sob climbing into her big brother's bed.

"Mommy," tears threatened to trail down her soft cheeks, "mommy and cousins and uncle was monsters, gonna protect Kay?"

"Bubba's always gonna protect, Kay. No matter what, you're gonna stay with bubba forever and ever. Bubba's not going nowhere ever, and all the meanies will evanescence Kay I promise."

"I-I don't know what evince means." Kaia stammered feeling ashamed.

"They'll all be out of your pretty little head, parva soror." Hezekiah promised bringing his only sibling closer to him before lying down as she rested her small head on his shoulder.

"What if, what if th-they're not, magnus frater." Kaia's bottom lip wobbled with worry.

"You don't trust me?" Hezekiah asked, "I assure you, parva soror, that all of these scary thoughts and nightmares will be no more. You're safe with me okay, I promise you that much. As long as I live, matter fact even after that, through life and death you'll always be safe with me. I'll always protect you, unconditionally."

"Even when you're really big and old?"

"Girl, watchu talking about I am twenty-four miss ma'am I am most definitely already big and old." Kaia giggled at her brother's childish tactics.

"No but forreal Kay, you staying with me from now on and ain't nobody gonna ever harm a follicle on that pretty little head of yours."

"Never see mommy again?" Hezekiah bit his bottom lip.

"No, no more mommy now. Won't see mommy again, it's just me and you now Kay, just me and you. Et usque in aeternum semper." Hezekiah assured pressing a soft kiss to his little sisters forehead.

"don't wanna see mommy gen anyway." Kaia mumbled pouting, "mommy was no nice, Kaia try be nice mommy no care."

Hezekiah frowned, "don't worry Kay Kay, mommy wasn't too nice to me either but it's okay. We don't need mommy, we'll be fine without her."

"Hows?" Kaia asked, she thought everybody needed a mommy that nobody was the same without one and that was the general function of how life worked.

"Surrexit ego faciam tibi, et obtinuit me: propter quod opus mammam?" Kaia pondered thinking over the question.
