Jean and I join the others on the top of the wall, looking out at the approaching Titan. The cannons started going off right as we arrive.
"Well. How'd that do?" Erwin stares ahead, jaw set.
We all wait and watch as the Titan continues approaching. I guess the cannons aren't enough to stop this one.
"Fire!" A Garrison man yells from below.
The cannons go off again, colliding with the slow moving Rod Reiss... He's going to hit this wall soon and it's going to be a disaster.
"Looks like the field cannons are even less effective," Erwin states.
"Makes sense," Levi grumbles. "The cannons on the wall have a way better angle, and they didn't do shit to it either. What's the problem?"
Jean puts his hand on my back and massages it with his fingers. I look over at him and smile weakly. Things aren't looking too good for Orvud....
"Unprepared soldiers, scraped together cannons, and shallow leader ship," Erwin points out. "The Titans have always attacked from the south. Not only is this in northern Garrison, it is in the interior. Therefore, I can tell you for fact this is the best we'll get."
"Yeah," Levi puts his weight on one leg and crosses his arms over his chest. "That much is painfully clear. And of course your strategy for getting us through this battle comes down to a gamble. Just like every other plan that you've come up with."
"Erwin! I brought goodies!" I hear Hanges voice sing from a few feet away from us. "All the gun powder, ropes, and netting I could find! We still need to put it together, though."
Levi and I walk over to Hange as people scurry around us, trying to prepare for battle. Hange's arm is wrapped in a sling, so she won't be doing much but directing her subordinates.
"Ooh! I got this, too!" She beams at a weird contraption. "There's another one just like it a bit further down. The triggers held in place, so once fired, it'll wind itself right back up, just like ODM gear!"
Moblit stops in front of us with the invention and fiddles around with the rope attached to it. He smiles at me with a nervous expression and then glances down at the ground.
"So. We do any damage?" Hange questions.
"Imagine a swarm of cicadas pissing on it," Levi rolls his eyes.
"Then we'll actually use these things. Exciting!" Hange grins mischievously.
I smile at her and she turns to mess around with her invention to make sure it's all good to go. To my left, I see Erwin standing with Jean, Sasha, and Connie.
"Captain Levi, Sophie," the commander calls. "Jean, Sasha, Connie. You handle that side.
"Yes sir!" We all salute and run off.
Levi glances at Erwin and then follows behind us. I look back past the captain and find my brother with the others, helping put the nets together.
As I look back forward, I catch a glimpse of Eren punching himself in the face. I stop running and Levi collides into me. We both fall to the ground.
"What the hell Sophie?" Levi grunts.
"S-sorry," I scramble fo my feet. "I'll be back!"
"Wait! Sophie!" Sasha calls after me, but I run over to my brother instead of listening.
Mikasa grabs onto Erens arms and I stand in front of him. Armin has his hands stretched out and is telling him to stop.
"Were you trying to make a wound? It's not time yet!"
