Where the hammer meets the steel

Jesse's ashes were buried next to Cody. Rex stood with an arm around Ahsoka as she cried silently. Kantooni stood next to them, leaning on the crutches the hospital had given her, her bad leg lifted off the ground. Lux stood not far off, Steela at his side.

"Rex?" Ahsoka asked quietly, her voice ragged and broken. "Where do we go now?"

"I don't know." He croaked. "I don't know, Ahsoka."

"You guys need to get out of the mid rim." Steela spoke up.

Rex glanced back at her. Her blue-black curls hung limp around her, kept back by a folded bandana.

"They've given full political immunity to the inquisitors. They can go where they want, when they want. And they're doing a full sweep of Onderon in two weeks." Steela said.

"And any trained force sensitive within two miles could sense any one of us. With three mostly trained and fairly powerful fugitives under one roof-" Ahsoka said woodenly, breaking herself off.

"We're blood in the water." Kantooni murmured lowly. Rex put his free hand on the young girl's shoulder. She leaned into his touch ever so slightly.

"It's settled then. We can't stay." Rex voiced what all of them were thinking. He tightened his hold on Ahsoka ever so slightly. "Are you up for leaving in a week? We don't have much to pack."

Ahsoka curled closer. "We can leave in the morning. Don't even need a week." She rasped.

"Take what you need from the house." Lux said. "It's yours, anyways. If the ever leave Onderon alone you can come back here. I'm a senator for Force's sake. I should be able to do more than this."

Ahsoka shook off Rex's arm and put a hand on her friend's shoulder. "You've done so much already. The house, the ship... we probably wouldn't be alive without your help at this point."

Lux gave her a mournful look. "I gave my word, that you and your family would always have a safe haven here. I'm second to only the king. I should be able to keep that promise!" He gritted his teeth. Steela shook her head.

"Go, Commander. There are plenty of dirtballs the empire will never touch. I can only wish that you find some place safe."

Ahsoka nodded. She turned back to Rex, a steely glint in her puffy eyes and a set to her jaw. "We leave in the morning." She growled, her voice low and rough. Rex nodded.

"Sir yes sir." He replied tonelessly.

There is power within each swing.

Rex came home to the little shack they had found at the edge of the little village that seemed to be the only establishment on the small moon deep in the outer rim.

Ahsoka worked tirelessly as a healer and a mechanic while Rex found work in the fields. Kantooni went to school three days a week and spent the rest of her time helping in the fields with the rest of the kids. Raada was as backwater as backwater could get.

Ahsoka had made friends fast, despite the rumors that flew about the small family. The most common theory was that they were runaway slaves. 'Ahzli' was growing popular despite the scars. She befriended a local girl named Kaeden, who taught her to work for food rations and the odd credit or two.
