every k-pop stans have to know what black ocean is. this matter had happened to huge artists like bts and twice too. t-ara and snsd (girls' generation). mostly, all k-pop artist.

black ocean is when fans doesn't give support for their artist or the artist. imagine, you being an artist and when you get onstage, you don't see anything but dark audience.

no lightstick waving and not even cheers. isn't it saddening knowing that no one was giving support while you were on stage, trying to smile and perform your best?

of course, diana ever went through this too. not once but a lot of time especially in 2016 after she released her second studio album, mellifluous and her song 'equal' was released.

diana received tons of backlashes on that song and she was criticized badly in the music industry for being a low-class and supporting the lgbtq community in south korea.

it was really bad that even fans started sending malicious, hate and even death threats to her for being a really open artist. it was during 2016.

when she attended the year-end award show, she received nothing but even boos from the crowds. she did not even receive a single cheer when she performed. nothing.

asian artist award, mnet asian music award, korean popular music award, and melon music award. everything makes her sad. she didn't want to attend it but big hit forces her to.

as soon as she steps on stage, she receives quietness. well, it wasn't really clear or obvious that there were no cheers or any sound except for the music since she was wearing in-ear.

but when she gets back from the award show and watch the performance video, she was heartbroken. she felt really sad seeing how bad it was and no one was even looking at her performance.

but despite the criticism, she didn't give up and continue her best. look, where she is right now? a grammy winner. the queen of k-pop.
