It was the morning after the stressful night with Gilda and Sister Krone. Alex was happier than usual which was because she was so happy that Gilda wasn't the traitor. She had no idea what she would have done if it had been Gilda. The fact that the girl would have lied about everything if she was would have hurt more than anything. Alex was just glad that everything with them had been genuine.
Alex was helping Emma set the table for breakfast. She and Emma were talking with big smiles on their faces. Alex heard footsteps walking into the room so she turned to see who it was. It was Norman. He had a tired smile on his face which made Alex a little worried. Was he up all night last night? Hopefully, he was able to get some sleep last night. It sucks to feel sleepy. She knew the feeling all too well because of the fact that she had stayed up for a long period of time reading a book. She felt so terrible afterward, but it was worth it since the book was so good.
Emma waved at him, "Good morning, Norman!"
"Morning, Norman!" Alex exclaimed with a grin.
Norman sent the girls a wave with a small smile, "Good morning, Emma, Alex."
"Morning, Norman," Ray said as he walked by Norman, patting his shoulder.
"Morning, Ray." Norman's voice was a little off. He didn't sound like his usual self as he said it. Did something happen between the two of them? Did they get into a fight? Maybe Alex is looking too much into it.
The day preceded as normal. They ate breakfast then did their daily tests. Mom congratulated them as usual. She also praised Don, Gilda, and Phil because their scores had gone up. Seeing as the daily tests were over, they were finally able to go outside. Norman, Ray, Emma, and Alex went off together so they could talk about things involving the plan and things involving it.
"So what was the situation with the fake ropes?" Emma started to ask, "Was anyone the-"
Emma was cut off by Ray saying, "Oh, the 'source'? Me," Everyone looked at him with shock and surprise. He had come out with it like it was nothing. Was it really something that wasn't that important to him? Alex didn't know exactly, but she was definitely taken back by it. "I... Am Mama's personal source."
"Why did you come out with it so casually?! This is serious!" Alex shouted as she was shaking the boy back and forth by his shoulders. Ray looked so done with her and the situation at this point. He knew the reaction from her wasn't going to be a normal one.
"You?!" Emma was freaking out as well. Some of the younger kids walked by so they stopped talking. Once they were sure that they were far enough away, they continued the conversation. Emma placed her hands on either side of her head, "Wait, augh... Sorry, I had a bit of an outburst there! That was just a really shocking revelation and I'm not exactly sure where to even..."
