He quickly ran towards you as you were having a horrible panic attack. He kneeled in front of you, keeping a distance in case you pushed him away. You continued to rock back and forth and then you put your face in your palms and cried into them. Your dad whispered, "Hey, shh, look at me sweetie. You're safe, it's okay." He crept closer but you cried loudly, "No-no it's not okay! I'm sick of this!" Then, you hit him with your hand and he backed up shocked. You even scared yourself doing that. You looked up at him shocked, your voice broke as you said, "I-I'm sorry.-" You rubbed your tired, teary eyes and looked back at him, "I didn't mean-" He crept back closer, and when you gave him a look of affirmation, he wrapped you in a hug on the floor. You fell into his arms as he said, "It's okay y/n. You don't have to apologize. You're okay now." You cried into his chest, "I'm just- I'm so sick of this. I just want it all to end." He whispered, trying to not let his voice break, "I know. I know sweetie." He paused, "It will take time, but you will get through this." You smiled and just let him hold you for a while. After a bit, your eyes began to get heavy, you asked sleepily, "Can I sleep with you tonight?" Then, you let your whole body go limp in his arms and he chuckled, "Sure, but am I going to have to carry you." You smiled and mumbled, "Mmhhm." He laughed quietly and picked you up(bridal style). Then, he carried you to his room. He carefully set you on the bed and pulled the sheets up to your chin. He then kissed your head and whispered, "Sleep tight baby." You mumbled "Sleep tight," back and turned on your side to go to sleep. You heard him turn off the lamp and crawl into bed next to you. After about thirty minutes, you still couldn't fall asleep. You tossed and turned, but nothing. You couldn't help but think about the dream you just had. Would I have actually killed myself in that situation? I mean, it felt so real, so would I have done it. I never thought as a little kid, I would be even thinking about this. I disappointed myself, I disappointed my dad, everyone. No one would care though...maybe Cat was right. My dad wouldn't care, he would still go on being a profiler. I probably was a mistake anyway. The more you think about these terrible thoughts, you begin to lightly sob. You kept it quiet though, not to wake your dad. Then, you heard your dad stirring, he turned around to face you and he looked at you confused, "Sweetie, what's wrong?" You crawled closer to him and he looked down at you confused, "Baby? What is it?" You looked up at him and said quietly, trying to not let your voice break, "Would you go on with your life if I just-" He quickly wrapped you in a hug, not wanting to hear the rest of that sentence. He whispered comfortingly, "Hey, shh, don't say that y/n..." You continued to cry and he said, "y/n, if you left me...I don't think I would be able to make it. I wouldn't be able to just go on with my life. Every time I would pass by your room, I would feel like I let you down. I wouldn't be able to concentrate on a case ever. I would probably relapse again." He paused as his voice broke, "y/n, don't ever think that things would just 'go on' without you. You are the most important thing to me baby." You just lightly sniffled, but he knew you got the point. Eventually, you just tried to match his breathing to relax, then, you fell asleep. -- The next morning, your dad leaned over and rubbed you back, "Good morning sweetie, I need you to get ready so I can go to work." You groaned but then got up. You quickly got ready and met your dad downstairs. You both got in the car and he handed you half a bagel, "Do you want this? I didn't like it." You took a bite of the bagel and asked, "Why didn't you like it-" He answered quickly, "It had raisins in it." You laughed, "Are you serious? You like grapes and they're practically the same thing-" He interrupted you and put out a finger, "Actually, when the grapes are dried, they add sulfur dioxide and sulfites for packaging to prevent discoloration and-" You gave him a glare and he said, "I also got you coffee." You both laughed and you finished your food and coffee the rest of the way to headquarters. When you got there, your dad got you both through security, then you went up the elevator. He went to sit down on his desk until Garcia walked past him and showed him a file. Your dad asked, "Another case?" She frowned, "Yeah, Hotch wants us all to meet in the conference room in five." Your dad nodded and asked you, "Do you want to sit in on this one." You nodded and you both headed to the conference room. When you got there, you were greeted by everyone, you sat between your dad and Emily. In less than 30 seconds, Hotch and Garcia walked in. Garcia walked to the board and began to update us, "This is a bit of a different case. There have been two mass shootings in churches around Salem, Oregon-" JJ asked, "And they haven't caught him?" Garcia switched the slides and said, "Surprisingly no, even though he left an anonymous message the week before each shooting." Rossi asked, "Any witnesses?" Garcia answered, "Yes and no...there are witnesses but none of their stories match." You replied, "That's ought to happen, when the body releases adrenaline, it is hard for the brain to process-" Derek chuckled, "Yeah, okay tiny. What do we know about this guy." Your dad answered, "He is probably a narcissist who wants attention. But my question, why are we just getting called in?" Garcia pulled a slide of a note, "Because he sent a threat to the church in the prayer box." Hotch nodded and said "Wheels up in thirty." You all gathered your things and headed to the airport. When you got in the car, your dad said, "We have just enough time to go get a few things from the house, are you sure you want to go? I mean, you can just stay here with-" You didn't mind staying with Penelope, but you just really needed to be with your dad right now. You shook your head and said, "No, I'm good." He nodded and continued on to the house. Once you got there, you both grabbed a few extra things you needed and headed straight for the airport. When you got there, you both walked up the stairs to the plane. Everyone else was already in the plane. You sat on the couch by your dad and began to get you books out to read. You read for about an hour while they talked about the case. Then, you saw Hotch walk up to you while everyone else was chatting. He quietly asked, "y/n, can I talk to you for a second?" You nodded and followed him to the back of the plane. He sighed and said, "Your dad told me the nightmares are getting worse-" You looked down and nodded, "Yeah, and they just-they feel so real. I mean, you'd think after you have one every night, you would realize that you're dreaming, but you don't. Each time, it just gets worse." He nodded and said, "Your dad told me you've been lashing it out on him-" Why is your dad gossiping about you to your future boss. Not wanting to start an argument, you said, "I just-I have anger built up inside at all of the people who cause me to have nightmares. I can't do anything to them so I guess I've been letting it out on him." He nodded and said, "And you're going back to therapy?" You nodded and he said, "That's good." You just nodded until his phone began to ring. He motioned that you could leave and he began talking on the phone. You went back to go sit by your dad. You asked him, "How long until we land?" He chuckled as he put his arm around you, "We've got a while." You groaned and laid your head on his chest. Then, you closed your eyes and went to sleep. You occasionally woke up to some turbulence, but your dad just rubbed your back to let you know you were okay. Once you finally felt the plane land, you stretched your limbs and rubbed your eyes. Your dad pushed your hands away from your eyes, "y/n, don't rub your eyes, you'll get pink eye." You chuckled and said, "You're such a germaphobe." He handed you your stuff and said, "Am not!" Prentiss turned around shocked and said, "Oh please!" You all laughed and headed to the cars. You went with your dad, Derek, and JJ. The ride to the police station was quick. When you got there, JJ walked in and introduced all of you, "Hello, SSA and communications liaison, Jennifer Jareau, this is agents, Prentiss, Morgan, Rossi, Dr. Ried, and section chief agent Hotchner." The sheriff shook all of your hands, but when he got to you and your dad, you both held your hand back. The sheriff asked, "Who's the girl?" Derek answered, "Einstein Jr." You all chuckled and the sheriff led you to your work station. The team began to set up everything and they began to work. You sat in a chair by the whiteboard as your dad made a geographical profile to see if there was anything suspicious. You began to read different articles to keep you busy. You did this for a while until Hotch came in and got all of your attention. He addressed the whole team, including you, "The church is having a gathering tonight and I have a good feeling the UNSUB is going to show up. I was thinking a few of us could go in acting like new members of the church to see who fits our profile. If we profiled correctly, he will strike tonight." Everyone looked around the room until Hotch continued, "I want to send in Reid and JJ...I also want y/n to go in, if you're okay with it. It would be a good idea to bring in a kid to make it seem like a new family is coming into the church. They won't suspect you are federal agents." You looked up at your dad who was looking at Hotch uneasily. Your dad looked at Hotch with a serious face and said, "Can I speak with you in the hallway?"
