AN: I have missed a day in posting a new chapter. Sorry, but I decided to lessen the chapters that I post every week. I would probably just post 3-5 chapters every week starting from now on.
I have run out of juice so I am lessening the chapters, thus, I can sort out my mind. Please, don't expect 1 chapter a day from now on. I'm sorry. 🙇🙇
Chapter 28: Enigma
It was Saturday afternoon, Dr. MacWarren both dreaded and feel excited with his new job assignment on SCP subject. Every Saturday or Sunday of his would-be spent at Site-17 permanently. His Monday to Friday are on Site-19 and sometimes in Site-98 if his presence and assistance there are needed.
During the last few days, Dr. MacWarren still remembered that confrontation with Dr. Iceberg in one of the cafeterias in Site-19. He couldn't help but grimace when he remembered them. It wasn't a pleasant experience. He couldn't even understand why did Dr. Gears inform Dr. Iceberg about the matters regarding the new SCP that their foundation has contained. Dr. MacWarren knows that Dr. Iceberg has still superficial knowledge and Dr. Gears didn't inform him about it with too many details since Iceberg was just a level 2 foundation researcher. Dr. MacWarren didn't like that Iceberg has been too nosy and has even the nerve to question his rights (no pun intended) on the new contained SCP.
Even with his duties as the Head of the Department of Extradimensional anomalies in Site-98, and his research and assignment on other various SCPs, Dr. MacWarren was certain that he could do it just fine and would be able to manage his own time. Efficiently and effectively. It
Walking on the Site-17 hallways, Dr. MacWarren made his way to one of the special testing rooms of Site-17. The door automatically opened at his arrival, he entered on them and was welcomed by the site of a blank and spacious white room. Above the room was a wide glass window where the observation room is probably located. Dr. Edison is probably there together with Dr. Aeish who didn't currently need any assistance today. Other than them, Mr. Ansell Graves was with them and observing the room with them. It was said in the deal by the O-5 that he can't have his child be accompanied by him during the interviews. He would remain as an observer through the glass just like Dr. Edison.
Dr. MacWarren then move his gaze from the small observation room to the interest of his job today. There is a small chair made to fit himself was SCP-7007. A 6-year-old child with unusual reality-bending abilities. Before the interview that would happen today, Dr. MacWarren has made some research and even inquired about some researchers who were knowledgeable regarding reality benders. He even decided to question Dr. Clef, but he decided to cancel it the past day and gain more knowledge about the subject himself before starting to ask Dr. Clef.
Dr. MacWarren stared at SCP-7007 who was currently playing with a cellphone. He instantly knows that it was one of his abilities, it was mentioned during one of those indirect SCP-7007 logs. In that logs, it was mentioned that SCP-7007 can summon that Mysterious Cellphone. It said there that SCP-7007 used it a few times when he was looking for something.
After a glance, Dr. MacWarren sat at the opposite chair that within a few distances of SCP-7007. Between them was a square-shaped table. SCP-7007 glance at him and finally decided to pause from his tapping on his mysterious and certainly anomalous cellphone. Just like the time when he have Mr. Ansell interviewed that day, SCP-7007 was silent. His posture was stiff and guarded unlike the previous one where he could be seen slightly relaxed.
" Hello, Asner. "
Dr. MacWarren decided to greet SCP-7007. Today would be the first day of his official assignment and interaction with him. Dr. MacWarren smiled slightly. He hoped that it came out as friendly and harmless. He decided that he wouldn't immediately delve into asking SCP-7007 about his abilities today. SCP-7007 is a child. He can't hurry his current assignment. And he wouldn't follow the footsteps of those foolish researchers within the foundation. Those researchers cause more harm than good on those previous harmless SCPs and turn them into something dangerous.
SCP-7007 is an unusual reality bender with untapped potential. He was powerful. It wasn't a doubt. According to the O-5, he was a threat with his reality-bending abilities. But on the files that he has gathered and some glimpse of the monitored surveillance on SCP-7007 during the past few days, he has been on his father's side and appears to be silent and behave.
It was unusual for a child to be so mild-mannered. But he has read on the file that SCP-7007 has an unusual behavior different from the common children.
SCP-7007 nodded his head slightly. Dr. MacWarren took that as a good sign and was thankful that his presence wasn't ignored. He wants this first day to be productive and garner some results.
" I am Dr. MacWarren. We have met last week. I have talked to your father. Do you remember? "
Another nod. It was good that the SCP–7007 is responsive to his questions.
" Has your father told you why he wasn't here with you today and you are in this room? "
" Contract. "
A brief and soft reply. Dr. MacWarren took it as an improvement compared to the previous two nods.
" Asner, is it alright to you if we do some things? "
" Things? "
There was wariness and cautiousness in his eyes. SCP-7007 eye's narrowed. He was assessing him. Truly, he wasn't a normal 6-year-old child. He wanted to know test the child's intelligence and maybe ask him to solve a few math problems and equations, but today isn't the day for it. Maybe, after the first day and he would make some progress with SCP-7007.
" Well, we would do some introduction like tell some things about yourself and your likes, dislikes, and favorites. Should I go first? "
SCP-7007 looks at him with a confused expression while he has made his expression as friendly and cheerful as possible. A few minutes later, he got a slight nod again. Dr. MacWarren decided to take that a cue to start some introduction about himself.
" Well, let's start. I am Dr. MacWarren. Connor Barton MacWarren. I have a pet named Mochi and I always woke up at 10:00 am sharp... "
