Davey hated group projects.

Or partner work.

Or any work that involved with interacting with other people.

He instead much more preferred to do work the way he liked and without having to worry about someone else ruining it.

Unfortunately, his English teacher did not quite grasp this concept and put the whole class into partners or groups for everything possible.

For this particular project he was placed in a group of four.

He didn't mind that part as much, sometimes bigger groups were better than small pairs.

But when the rest of the group are all friends.

It is hell.

But in his case it was even worse, not only were they friends they were also all adoptive brothers.

They weren't popular so he was at least thankful for that but they were still related and that terrified him.

He had heard of three of them, Charlie Morris, Antonio Higgins and Jack Kelly.

All he'd heard about Charlie was good, that he was an angel and was nice to everyone.

He'd heard that Antonio was quite the character. He wasn't bad, just very energetic.

He also knew that he was dating the star quarterback, Spot Conlon, but that was all he knew.

Compared to his friends Jack's reputation was far worse.

He had a history of crime and violence and had been to prison a few times.

It was only in the past few years that he hadn't been to prison for a while since he was adopted by Medda Larkin, the theatre teacher in their school.

Davey hated to admit it but even if he did have a criminal record, he was good looking.

Davey also learned that apparently he was good at art from the other boys in the group, which surprised him.

He thought Jack would be good at sports, based on (in Davey's opinion) the very nice muscles he had.

He very much wanted to talk to Jack alone but he also very much didn't.

He knew that he was starting to get a crush on the annoyingly good looking boy and he knew that it could only be bad news.

Much to Davey's annoyance both Crutchie and Race were out one day.

Jack explained to him that Crutchie had a doctor's appointment to check up on his leg and Race had a stomach bug.

They did as much work as they could together but it wasn't much.

Jack suggested that Davey should come over after school so they can work on it.

He had been told that Crutchie would be back from his appointment and Race could give suggestions from his bed.

Davey had texted his mother at lunch and she had gladly allowed him.

She was happy that he was making friends with real people instead of fictional characters for once.

The pair walked to Jack's house from school together since Miss Medda had had to stay behind and do some things.

They reached the house fairly quickly and Davey was surprised to find out that he didn't live all that far away from him.
