Race Has a Secret (or Not-So-Secret) Boyfriend
Ship - Jack and Race (brotherly)
Era - Modern
Triggers - Passing out.

"Why is there an unconscious person on my couch?" Jack asked as he walked into the apartment he, Crutchie and Davey had recently started renting together.

Race appeared out of the bathroom a moment later, carrying a damp cloth. "Don't be mad. He's my friend, Spot, and we were on a walk and he passed out. Here was nearer."

"Why did he pass out?"

Race shrugged. "We were just talking normally and then he started to talk like he was tired and then he kinda just passed out."

"Okay." Jack nodded slowly. "Maybe stay with him and give him water when he wakes up."

"What is he doesn't wake up?" Race asked, panicked.

"I'm sure he will. I'd say he's just dehydrated, or something like that."

Race nodded. Gently, he lifted up Spot's head and sat down, resting the head back down on his lap.

"How'd you meet him?" Jack asked, watching his little brother.

"We're roommates. He's from Brooklyn."

"Do you like him?" Jack queried, not intending to sound suspicious.

"Yeah. He's my friend."

"Alright."

"Alright?"

"Yeah, alright, if you like him I won't say anything," Jack promised. "But if he hurts you I will defenestrate him."

"Defene-what now?"

"It means to throw someone out a window."

Race nodded. "I'll keep that in mind."

~~~
Race was still sitting with Spot's head on his lap a few hours later and Jack was starting to worry.
Not for Spot, he didn't even know Spot. He was worrying for his little brother, he hadn't eaten anything, deeming caring for Spot more important.
"Racer. Do you want a sandwich?" Jack offered. "Or some left-over pizza?"
"No, I'm okay. I'll get something once I know Spot's okay."
Jack sighed and brushed a hand through Race's hair. "You're a good kid."
"I'm not a kid," Race argued, a fake pout on his face. "I'm eighteen, literally an adult now."
"Maybe but you'll always be my kid brother."
~~~

Jack was upstairs when Spot woke up, or at least he guessed Spot woke up seen as he could hear when Race started to talk rapid-fire.

It wasn't until somewhat later when Jack dared to venture down to his own living room. He didn't last there for long.

With Race gently kissing the boy's forehead as he also forced him to drink water, Jack felt like he was intruding in his own home by being there.
