Davey sat on the cold bathroom floor. It wasn't where he wanted to be sitting but circumstances brought him to be there, finding breathing to be one of the greatest chores of his life.

It was stupid to pretend things were okay as he sat there. He was going to die, that was certain and he'd never even get to say goodbye to Jack, or Sarah and Les, or his parents.

"Davey," Jack said, slowly pushing open the bathroom door. "You okay?"

Davey didn't reply, the weight on his chest was making breathing be higher on his priorities than talking.

"Baby, are you okay?" Davey shook his head. "Okay, can you talk?"

Davey shook his head again, pointing to his chest, hoping Jack would catch onto what he was trying to convey.

Jack dropped onto his knees to be level with Davey.

"That's okay." Jack took one of Davey's hands and placed it on his chest. "Follow my breathing. In, out."

Jack guided Davey's breathing until he was calmed down and his breathing was less laboured.

"How are you feeling, love?"

"Fine. I'm fine."

Jack pulled Davey into his chest. "Not happening. How are you feeling?"

Davey sighed before melting into Jack's embrace.

"Tired. I don't know what happened but I'm really tired."

"Does your chest hurt?" Jack asked.

"Not really. Just a bit from not being able to breathe," Davey explained. "Why?"

"Nothing. I'm just worrying. I wanna ask you something but I don't want to sound nosey."

"You won't. We're boyfriends, we ask each other stuff. Even if it seems a bit weird."

"Do you see someone? Like a therapist or something?"

"No," Davey mumbled. "Do you think I should?"

After having dated Davey for two years and having been friends with him for another year before that, Jack knew very well how to read Davey's body language. Even from behind.

"Hey, don't cry. Therapy isn't a bad thing. It can be really helpful for some people."

"It's not that. I just really love you and I thought I was going to die without saying goodbye," Davey cried, turning so he could bury himself into Jack.

"Oh, love, I'm so sorry you felt like that." Jack kissed Davey on the forehead. "If I'd known what was happening I would have helped you earlier."

"It's okay, you didn't know. I just felt so alone and it was just so hard to breathe."

"Did something make you panicked or worried before it happened?" Jack asked. "You seem pretty stressed out lately."
