Ever since Crutchie had been adopted by Miss Medda he had a reputation.

To some it was a reputation as being weak. The only people who thought this were the Delanceys though.

To everyone else in the world he was an absolute angel that everyone would protect.

Sometimes the Newsies liked to baby him a bit, especially Jack, and he hated it.

He knew they meant well and they were only trying to help but it made him feel like he wasn't able to do things himself.

Some mornings it would be like that others not so much.

He was usually the first to wake up on a school morning and on weekends he'd wake up earlier than the rest and find something to entertain himself.

"Jackie," he shouted into Jack's room. "Come on, it's time to get up."

He didn't get a spoken reply from Jack but instead a groan and the thud of him rolling onto the floor.

"Hi Crutch," Race said as he walked past him.

"Hiya Racer," Crutchie replied gleefully.

Crutchie reminded Jack that he needed to get up one last time before following Race to the kitchen.

He poured himself a bowl of cereal then went and sat down at the table.

He ate it quickly once he realised that time was quickly passing by.

He went to his bedroom and got his last few things together before heading for the front door.

He was very much thankful that Jack had gotten his driver's licence the previous year as it meant he didn't have to take the bus.

He really hated the bus.

As per usual, he was met by Race a few minutes after and Jack a good five minutes after that.

"Jack can you please hurry up?" Race whined. "I want to see my boyfriend."

Jack rolled his eyes playfully but started to hurry up nonetheless.

They arrived at school soon and Race rushed off to Spot's locker where they met every morning.

Crutchie and Jack made their way to their lockers to get their books before they met with the rest of the Newsies.

Once they had done that they went to their base room, they were all very thankful that they were all placed in the same base class.

Some Newsies were already there when they arrived, namely Specs, and Romeo who he made be punctual, and Davey and Sarah.

"Hiya guys," he exclaimed when he saw them all.

Specs waved in reply, his attention largely on his book. Romeo mumbled a reply, he was half asleep on Specs' lap. Davey said hello to Crutchie but went over to his boyfriend. Sarah went over to him immediately and they got to chatting.
