This chapter was originally meant to be much happier but it is not happy. You have been warned.

Race smiled at his phone. He'd been texting a guy lately and every time he got a message through on his phone he felt warm inside.

"What's got you so happy?" Jack asked, noticing how smiley Race had suddenly become.

"Nothing."

"There's something. Tell me what it is."

Race sighed dramatically. "It's this guy I've been texting. He's really sweet and kind."

"That's great, Racer, what's his name?"

"Leo. He's really handsome too."

"I'm glad you're happy."

Race smiled and went back to texting on his phone.

"How'd you meet him?" Jack asked. "Does he go to school with you?"

"No. He texted me on Instagram saying that he thought I was hot and we've been texting ever since," Race explained. "He's a sophomore in college."

"How old is he?" Jack asked suspiciously.

"He's eighteen." Jack shot Race a look. "I know that sounds bad but I'll be eighteen in a few months. He skipped third grade and graduated high school early. That's why he's in college."

"I'm sorry but that sounds a bit suspicious," Jack told him. "You're still a minor."

Race shrugged and looked at his phone. "I know but he's only a year older."

Jack sighed, Race wasn't going to give up. He knew how relentlessly stubborn Race could be.

"Fine. But if he hurts you or makes you sad, I'm gonna soak him."

"Fine."

Jack was in his room, painting as always, while Race had Leo over. He didn't trust Leo from the moment he saw him, he didn't look eighteen and Jack thought he looked like nothing but bad news.

With his headphones in, he didn't notice Crutchie was at his bedroom door until Crutchie came up behind him.

"Is everything okay?" he asked, noticing the expression on Crutchie's face.

"Can't you hear?"

"Hear what?" Jack took his headphones out and realised what Crutchie was talking about.

"I'm going to kill him," Jack shouted, stroking out of his room and down the hall to Race's.

"Wait, Jack. We need a plan."

"I'll kill that guy, you get Race out of there, okay?"

Crutchie nodded. "Got it."
