Chapter Twelve

Replace

Lumipas ang mga araw ay naging abala kami sa aming training sessions. Mas naging mahirap pa ito kumpara sa nakaraang linggo. May balita na sa mga estudyante. According to Dr. Drusila, they drank a poisonous drug that paralyze the brain. Kailangan pa nilang  obserbahan ang mga estudyante para makagawa kaagad ng lunas. The drug was rare, Dr. Drusila figure out that the drug consumed from the unconscious students was banned years ago. Nakakapagtaka lang.

Now that the head mistress gave us the permission to investigate secretly, we can now have the full access to storm the entire academy. I still can't believe that the head immediately agreed upon meddling this confidential matter. Or maybe she wanted us to help because she's busy. And now that the third and fourth year are dealing with coma, it gives me a clue that maybe one of the first and second year students is the spy.

Hawak ko ang kutsara at nilalaro ko ito sa pagkain habang malalim na nag-iisip. If I look at the mirror right now, the crease on my forehead will probably visible. Right now, we're here in the cafeteria. My foot is fine now but still not allowed to run or do such things that slow the progress of healing.

"Paano ba sila na-coma?" tanong ni Cris habang ngumunguya.

Me and Lunarex stared at each other knowingly. Tumikip lang ang bibig ko upang pigilang magsalita. Sumulyap ako sa gilid ni Cris. Lew is down since yesterday. It is because of his brother, Lax. It must've been hard for him to focus on his training sessions while his brother is in coma.

"Ang tahimik niyo, ah!" Dian lighten up the mood.

Matipid akong ngumiti. I should act normal pero mukhang hindi lang ako ang nagluluksa rito. Almost all of the students in this cafeteria are down. Kahit wala akong kamag-anak o kadugong nag-aaral sa academy ay lubhang pag-aalala ang nararamdaman ko ngayon. The atmosphere also altered, the bustling cafeteria full of chortle and thrilled voices, now you can only hear soft murmur and the clatter and clink of the plates and utensils was echoing the whole room.

Bumuntong hininga si Cris at muling bumalik sa pagkain. As much as I want to tell him why did this happened, I need to keep the information privy. It's jeopardizing for them to be included. Lalo na't sa pagkakakilala ko sa kanila ay padalusdalos sa mga desisyon.

"Baka na lason sila? Or perhaps they ate something bad?" Dian guessed.

My heart pound at his statement. Dian maybe the farceur of his group but I can sense that his also perpending this incident. They probably be wondering what really is happening and it's so unfortunate that I can't tell them the truth.

Kumunot ang noo ni Cris. "Hindi na nakakatuwa to. Sino naman kayang may gawa nito? Mga staff sa cafeteria?" frustrated na aniya.

"No, it's not the staffs." biglang singit ni Lew na ngayon lang umimik. Seryoso siyang nakatungo habang mahigpit na hinawakan ang kutsara sa kamay niya.

"Nasaan si Lupitha? Kanina pa 'tong si Ozcar na balisa." biro ni Dian.

Siniko ni Ozcar si Dian sa may tagiliran. He look piss off but he manage to ignore his taunting. Si Lunarex sa gilid ko ay tahimik at mukhang may sariling mundo. She carefully slice the red apple and precisely take a bite out of it.

"Ang tahimik niyong dalawa. Is there a problem?" takang tanong ni Cris saming dalawa ni Lunarex

I shook my head. Ang katabi ko naman ay kalmadong kumakain habang hindi sinasagot si Cris. Wala ng nagsalita pa matapos noon. We went silent and finish our meal. Pagkatapos kong kumain ay nanatili parin akong nakaupo upang hintayin sila saglit. It's rude to just leave while they're still eating.
