Second Day

The sun rises and we tighten our boots and fill ourselves for the second day. We have seen eggs being laid and for safety assurance in the future we burned them. I don't feel a little pity when we burnt the eggs.

"There is but we have to take a long journey to get there. Scorching Devil is a wide desert." si Séverin.

"I agree with that." Cris stated.

Naglakad kami sa deserto papunta sa ibang bahagi nito. Sweats linger in our suits and my hair is sticking into my forehead. Todo tago naman si Yumiree sa scarf. I can almost hear her breathing because of the silence.

Sobrang init. It's like the sun didn't move an inch after our long walk. Far and wide the sands are flaming.

"I don't think this is a good idea." biglang usal ni Serri.

I can see thick dust that is coming to our direction. Anastacia use her binoculars to spy the vast desert. I also use my visor to zoom in. I gape my mouth when I sight five motor riders. Naka-helmet sila at naka-full suit.

"What the heck is that?!" bulaslas ni Yumiree. "They do not look friendly." she added.

"They don't look cadets either." si Cris.

"Let's hide." matigas na saad ni Dagen.

We all look at him unison. I gaze the mountain ahead of us. We have no clue what is that and who they are. We can't engage ourselves and put our lives in danger.

"Let's go!"

Naunang tumakbo si Anastacia at sumunod kami. The roaring engine came closer as we head towards the mountain. We skeddadle and hid somewhere behind the rocks.

Séverin gestured to be quiet.

"Sino sila?" tanong ni Yumiree.

"I don't know. Mga manlalakbay?" Anastacia guess.

"They're not travelers. They're probably bandits who steal weapons." paliwanag ni Séverin.

"We can fought them right? I mean, there's no point in hiding when we have an upgraded weapons." Yumiree shrugged.

"Yeah, absolutely, but breaking regulations maintained by an authority can jeopardize the academy. We have only one shot to prove and letting the head and administer down is a failure." singit ni Serri.

"She's right. We stick to the plan so we can exit smoothly." a baritone voice uttered.

Mayamaya nagsalita ang isa sa kanila. They are not far enough so we can actually hear them clearly.

"Walang tao rito." the man stated.

"Sabi ni boss dito raw naka-asign ang mga cadets." the other man replied.

"Baka naroon sa unahan ng mga kanyon?"

"Tsk! Delikado sa parteng 'yon."

Who are these people? What do they mean by cadets? Is it talking to us? I tilted my head to look at them closely.
