Chapter Thirty-Two

Moving on

After weeks of recovery, they decided to discharge me out of the infirmary. I'm feeling quite alright but not entirely. May mga araw na naiisip ko pa rin siya. Madalas kong napapaginipan ang nangyari pero pilit na binabaon ko 'yon sa limot upang magpatuloy.

Hinatid ako ng dalawang staff sa specialized room. Sa pintuan palang ay tanaw ko na agad ang kulot na buhok ni Lupitha at ang iba pa. I missed them so much! My eyes welled in tears. Sa ilang linggong nagdaan ay sa wakas nagkita rin kami.

"Aleera!" Lupitha beamed.

She ran first and hugged me as tight as she could. I lightly chuckled and hug her back. I really need that kind of a hug.

"Nobya!"

From her back, I saw Lunarex, Dian and Ozcar. Alam kong wala si Lew dahil nasa misyon siya ngayon. Same place, Scorching Devil but different locations.

Paglapit ko sa kanila ay niyakap ako ni Dian. When I pulled the hug, Ozcar smiled at me and I reciprocate his warm welcome. Nakatayo lang si Lunarex sa gilid at tinanguan ako pero hindi ako nagpadala sa lamig niya kaya niyakap ko rin siya. Natigilan siya sa ginawa ko. Her bondy stiffen but she hug back lightly either way.

"I'm so sorry if I didn't protected him."

"Aleera, don't blame yourself. It's the worst thing you could do to  yourself." mahinang bulong niya.

"Hindi magugustuhan ni Cris ang sinabi mo." umiling si Dian.

I wipe my tears. Ilang araw na ang nakaraan pero narito parin ang sakit. But I know eventually we are going to heal. It's just the matter of time.

"Cris is a great friend you know? He worries us more than himself. Magagalit 'yon kapag masyado tayong mag-alala sa kanya." ngumiti si Ozcar sa kawalan.

I saw Lupitha sniff and wipe her tears using the back of her hand.

"It's hard to accept he's gone.. we all knew that." Lupitha sobs.

"One good soul." puna ni Dian na tumango-tango.

As we trained ourselves inside this academy, our bond became stronger. Siguro ang dahilan nito ay ang pagkawala ni Cris. Nakakalungkot man isipin pero ganun talaga ang nakatadhana sa kanya. We can no longer prolong the grief because we want to step forward but he'll always be in our hearts and his memories will locked inside our minds and keep it forever.

I squinted as I glance the huge  screen board in the function hall. Panibagong grupo na naman sa paparating na misyon. It's kinda traumatizing to think of it. Hindi mo malalaman kung ano ulit ang possibleng mangyari. As I noticed, may nangyayari kada-misyong bilang ako. Maybe I'm a black sheep or something?

"How are you feeling?" I jolted at that baritone voice.

Lumingon ako sa bulto ni Calloway. Nakakunot ang noo nito sa'kin. Anong ginagawa niya rito? He's a busy guy, he should be somewhere else.

"I—uh, I'm fine?" kwestiyonable rin sagot ko.

Taimtim siyang tumingin sa sahig na amino'y malalim ang inisip.
