My shoulders feel lighter as I watch Azrael and LeRoy decorate the little secluded yard for Rico's birthday. She looked better. Her eyes where lighter and her bruises where starting to fade. She seemed to smile a little easier and her weight was starting to come back. She was even wearing a little white sundress today with her curls tumbling over her shoulders. All in all, she looked beautiful.

She finally started going to see a therapist. I think talking about her feelings has helped a lot. Her relationship with her father has grown back and even stronger than before. She opens herself up to me a lot more and talks to me when she isn't feeling okay.

She's healthy and safe. That's all that matters to me.

Loki shoves at my shoulder, Lucas and Rico beside him. "Are we still going to pick up Maria?" He asks, his pale complexion glowing in the sun.

"Can you hurry up?" Rico whines, "Lilo is coming soon and you're taking forever." He grumbles.

I roll my eyes, "Yeah, hold on." Ignoring his groan as I make my way over towards my girlfriend. She was laughing at something LeRoy said, her cheeks flushed and beautiful. Jesus. She was pretty. Her eyes meet mine, her smile widening as I get closer. "Hey." I murmur, reaching out to grab at her waist before burying my face into the crook of her neck.

Her hands come up to meet my chest, pushing me back so that I'm looking at her. "I'm heading out. I have to pick up Maria so I won't be long." I tell her, tucking a curl behind her ear. "Do you need anything from the store?" I ask, remembering her concerns this morning.

"Candles." She says sheepishly, "I got everything but the candles for the cake."

I nod, "Alright, I love you."

Her cheeks heat up, "I love you back." She responds, kissing at my jaw sweetly.

I sigh at her touch, completely forgetting about everyone else around us. "Are you done kissing on my sister? Can we go now?" Rico calls out, his annoying little voice ringing in my ear, "Helloooooooooo?" He drawls and my fingers twitch with the need to pull him by his ear.

Azrael laughs, pushing me away. "I'll see you later."

I sigh, letting her go before turning to face the other three waiting on me. "Why can't you just stay here?" I grumble at Rico, pinching his arm in annoyance.

"I wish." He scoffs, "Too bad I'm stuck with you." He snarks, giving me a dirty look when I ruffle his hair. He sighs, "I can't believe I'm finally thirteen. I'm finally an adult, can you believe that?" He asks, walking towards the passenger side of the car. completely ignoring Loki's snort.

"Huh?" I feign confusion, "You still look like a baby to me." I tease, riling him up.

Lucas joins in, flicking at Rico's ear, "That's right and I'm pretty sure babies are supposed to sit in the back seat." He shrugs, his smirk widening at Rico's look of betrayal. "Front seat is mine, Niño."
