DON'T BE SAD

The morning air is warmer than it had been the night before. Iwaizumi turns to face the sun, letting his skin soak up the warmth before knocking on your front door.

Jo groggily opens the door, his hair still disheveled from his sleep. "Hey man," he steps aside for Iwaizumi. "Welcome back."

"Thanks," Iwaizumi says as he removes his shoes. "Is Y/n awake?"

"Yeah, she's just in the kitchen," Jo leads him down the hallway, the scent of fried eggs filling the air. Iwaizumi finds you near the stove, scrambling a pan full of eggs while Runa was perched on the dining table, her food and water bowls prepared in front of her. Runa keeps a watchful eye on you as you cook, occasionally dipping her tongue into her water as she waits for her owner to arrive.

Iwaizumi clears his throat, and Runa is the first to react, meowing loudly and jumping on the tabletop as he pets her head. "Hey Runa," he bends down to kiss her head, and she touches his cheek with a paw. "You missed me, huh?"

"Your girlfriend did, too," you give him a lazy grin as he makes his way to you. He wraps his arms around your waist before pulling you into his body. "Hello, Mr. Eggsema."

Iwaizumi pecks your lips. "Hey, beautiful."

"Am I the third wheel here?" Jo whines. He reaches over to Runa, and she hisses lightly at him before nibbling her wet food. "I guess I am."

"I thought you met a girl at school." You say as you plate the eggs. "You should really invite her over sometime."

Jo shrugs his shoulders and leans back into his seat. "I'm gonna have to see when she's available. For now, I'm the lonely big brother." He reaches over to Runa once more, and to his surprise, she lets him pet her fur.

Iwaizumi helps you bring three plates of eggs to the table, along with a stack of pancakes Jo had made earlier. You quickly cut up fresh strawberries, apple slices, and wash a container of blueberries to go with the pancakes.

"Don't forget the syrup," Your brother says, and Iwaizumi quickly opens the fridge to retrieve the bottle.

The morning news plays in the background while the three of you fill your plates. Jo tells stories from college, and he even goes on to ask Iwaizumi about his volleyball competitions, to which he mentions their recent loss against a rival school. Iwaizumi also mentions how he looked forward to moving past high school and finally starting his life in college.

"What college do you wanna study at?" Jo asks, his mouth full of food. "Please tell me that you plan on applying to my school."

Iwaizumi swallows as he shakes his head. "No, I'm actually not. I know Oikawa is, though."

"You're gonna miss out on all the fun and parties that we have!"

"My mom actually wants me to study abroad," Iwaizumi says, and you instantly raise a brow.

"Abroad?"

"Mhm, I told you once about it, remember?" Iwaizumi waits for you to answer, but you hit a dead end. "I plan to move to Europe and study there."

You lean on the table, the news resurfacing in your head. "Wait, why Europe?"

He shrugs his shoulders. "I want to experience new things and meet new people. Who knows, I might even learn a new language, too," Iwaizumi awkwardly chuckles, but his smile drops when he sees the confused expression on your face. "Did I say something?"
