REUNITED

Mao bursts into your room, quickly opening her spare luggage and rummaging through your dressers. "Darling," she grunts when she throws a small stack of clothes into the case, "Go get your toiletries ready, we're in a time crunch."

You rush into the bathroom, clearing out your shelf, and Jo wanders through the hallway to see all of the commotion. "What's happening here?"

"Your little sister has a flight to catch in about an hour!" Mao peeks her head out of your room, flashes Jo a smile, and disappears to continue packing. "Come in here, help me!"

"Oh yeah, the Paris trip," Jo walks into your room, stepping over the mess that was covering the floor, "I bet you're excited."

You grab your passport off of your desk, slipping it next to the plane ticket which was sitting in your purse. "I still can't believe I'm going."

"Well, believe it." Mao sighs tiredly, "Jo!"

"Yes, ma'am?"

"Stop standing there and do something!" Mao puts a hand on your hip and points to the overflowing luggage, "Come here and sit," He quickly scrambles, nearly slipping off the bag while she tugs on the zipper. "Darling, can you try?"

Jo nods his head, taking the zipper and quickly shutting it closed. "Got it."

"Thank you," Mao pants. She checks the time on her watch, her eyes widening. "Oh shoot, your plane leaves in about forty-five minutes."

A mix of adrenaline and anxiety makes your heart pound against your ribcage. "We have to go now."

"Jo, can you―" Mao stops when Jo jumps to his feet, quickly sweeping the heavy luggage into his arms and carefully bringing it down the stairs. "Oh, thank you."

He waits for you two near the front door. Once you finish packing your carry-on, the three of you squeeze yourselves into Mao's small car. "Is everyone buckled in?"

"Yes!" you say, keeping an arm on the bag next to you. Mao quickly takes off down the road, and Jo reaches for his grab handle, swaying with every sharp turn.

"Do you always drive like this?" Jo watches the city flash through his window, and he lurches forward when Mao slams on the brake. "Holy shit!"

Mao laughs nervously, "Sorry. You okay back there?" she catches your gaze in the rearview mirror, and you give her a quick nod. "How much time do you have?"

"About twenty-five min―" your back slams into your seat as the car takes off, rushing past the others on the highway. "Your driving reminds me of Iwaizumi."

"Oh, he's a way better driver than me," Mao laughs when she sees the distressed look on Jo's face. "You okay over there?"

Jo remains silent, his eyes darting as he watches the cars pass by. "I think so."

"Just a few more minutes," Mao presses on the gas, racing down the empty strip, and she quickly switches lanes towards the exit. "Shit," she says under her breath, stomping on the brake once more when she nears ongoing traffic. "Darling, I'm afraid that you're going to be late."

The airport was clearly in view, just a few meters down, but the lane to the drop-off area was packed with cars. You look through Jo's window to find a plane landing on the runway while another was stationed, waiting for passengers.
