JEROME'S P.O.V

Saya berdepan dengan Axel Abraham.

Sapphire's dad sedang duduk dengan santainya di office saya with his hockey stick on his lap and smoking his cigarette.

Inilah kali pertama saya bersemuka dengan Sapphire's dad. I didn't even realize that Axel Abraham yang telah menandatangani the project collaboration is Sapphire's dad. I swear there's a lot of Abrahams in this world, but it never crossed my mind he's the Abraham that I should be impressing to win his daughter's heart.

Saph, sungguh gangster sekali bapamu ni tau.

Uh, Sapphire decided to keluar lunch with Ivana. Entahlah, masih juga dia mau berkawan sama Ivana walaupun saya larang. Saya takut Sapphire akan terluka oleh pengkhianatan Ivana seperti si Shandra, tapi tau lah Sapphire ni keras kepala.

"So tell me, Ashburn." Saya tersentak. Okay, tenang kau, Jerome. This is not an interview. Kau tu yang duduk di kerusi CEO sekarang.

"Jerome, sir." Saya bilang. "You may call me Jerome."

Sapphire's dad or shall I just refer him to Axel, mengukirkan senyuman sinis.

"I thought I'm talking to the CEO of AJ Ashburn and AJA Dynamix." Uh? Yes, you are. "But you sound like a school boy who's waiting for permission to bring a girl out from her father."

Oho! I felt like hot flushed creeping up my neck. Confirm lah muka saya termerah ni. Kedapatan oh kau, Jerome! Bikin malu.

Axel raised a hand to stop me from talking.

"At first saya mau tanya how many percent sudah the progress of the project."

"Abou-" I started.

Axel angkat lagi satu tangan.

"No, itu at first." Mata dia tajam. Damn! Why is he making me so nervous? Even my dad can't make me nervous. The only person who can everytime make me nervous is Sapphire. "How long have you known Sapphire?"

"Since uni. We're in the same major." Saya jawab dengan confident.

"So you're friends?" Dia tanya lagi, while puffing his cigarette.

"Yes, we were bestfriends." Saya bilang.

"Were?" Dia menaikkan satu kudou.

"I flew here, and we lost contact." Saya explain.

Mata saya menurun pada gerakan tangan Axel. Dia mengusap-usap hockey stick dia. Ada bekas darah Braxton kah tu ah?

Lama dia menatap wajah saya! I'm squirming in my seat. Tapi yang cun-nya, saya pun steady dan confident juga.

"Bestfriends. Phuuuh..." Dia menghembus kepulan asap rokok di udara. "I know Sapphire has 2 bestfriends in uni besides that shitty Braxton. Shandra and J. I know Shandra, but I've never met J."

Okay. Uh, tidak juga Sapphire's dad kasi chance saya bercakap.

"J." Dia nampak macam sedang berfikir. "The J that she always talked about. J helped her with her assignment, J sent her to the airport, J bought her tapau, J paid for her Grab."

Oh? Banyak story pasal sayakah? Alamak.

"The J that she cried for a week after he left for overseas." Sapphire cried for a week after I left? Macam berbunga-bunga hati saya. Eh, tapi mungkin dia menangisi kawan baik dia saja bah tu. Jangan juga kau perasan, J. "The J that coupled with a girl named Kylie."
