"I finally accepted after knowing that I'm pregnant."

Bukan Sapphire sejak memmucat, saya pun terpucat.

"Well, congratulations, Jerome." Axel bilang. "At least can be rest assured that you're not after my daughter." Axel chuckled. "I thought you were after Sapphire you know."

APA?!

Dad sekilas pandang Axel dengan tatapan yang saya tidak faham. Bingungkah apa.

Kylie pula beraninya menggenggam tangan kanan saya yang sedang keras gripping on my steak knife. Macam saja dia dapat merasa perasaan saya ni sekarang. Perasaan membunuh. Pantas saya menepis tangan dia dengan kasar.

Kylie giggled.

"Jerome is like that, uncle, friendly with everybo-"

"Kylie." Suara dad mengeras. "We are having a business dinner here, not about anyone's dirty laundry, especially yours."

Sedetik muka Kylie memerah.

"Ummm, I can keep quiet." Dia buat-buat manis suara dia.

Then dad turned to me.

"You were saying you're flying to KL with Sapphire for the project?"

Saya mengangguk.

"Yes, dad."

Sapphire langsung berdiri dan meminta izin ke tandas. Saya mau berdiri sudah mengejar Sapphire tapi...

"Arvand." Sapphire's dad bersuara. "Sapphire will be pulling out from the project. So there will be no project to handle from KL."

Dari ekor mata saya, saya nampak mulut Kylie terpolong sesaat, kemudian dia mengukirkan senyuman kecil.

Dad mengerutkan dahi.

"Then you'll be...?"

"Temporarily, yes." Sapphire's dad jawab. "Until either one of my other two daughters take over."

"Jeremy and Jeremiah can handle the company while I'm-" No, saya mau juga ikut Sapphire.

"Bibi, we need to set a date for-" Kylie memotong kata-kata saya.

Saya meraup wajah saya kasar. Oh God, Kylie. Sampai bila baru kau boleh faham yang saya tidak mau ada apa-apa sama kau sudah? Kalau itu betul pun anak saya, kalau lah ah... saya akun bah kasi nama saya, tapi saya tidak akun mau kahwin kau.

"Kylie, again I'm reminding you that we are in the midst of a business discussion." Suara dad tegas.

"I'm sorry." Kylie menunduk. Then in a few seconds she stood up to go to the washroom.

Shit! Dia mau pergi tandas yang pada masa yang sama Sapphire pun di tandas. Nanti dia menyerang lagi Sapphire.

"I won't." Dia menyentuh bahu saya sambil tersenyum lembut seakan dia dapat membaca fikiran saya. Dulu saya percaya kelembutan pada senyuman kau, Kye. Namun sekarang semua telah berubah.

Just as she turned to leave, dad's chilly voice filled the air. Kylie stood frozen.

"So you know we are still waiting for my sister to arrive from England." Suara dad semakin dingin. "And just so you know, none of my sons marry without my consent."

Eh, dad? Kalau saya mau kahwin Sapphire boleh?

Kylie berusaha mempertahankan pendirian dia.

"I have my own doctors, uncle." Tatapan dia terhadap dad seakan mau meraih simpati. "Jerome is an adult who made his own decision when he proposed to me. Our son..."
