Chapter 8: You Can't Handle The Truth

The truck starts to slow down as it arrives at a gate where a soldier is guarding it, Dave hangs onunderneath the truck as the guard checks with the driver and proceeds to open the gate and drive through.The truck slows down and stops, Dave still hangs as he hears the doors open and a bunch of footsteps andvoices can be heard. "Men! In position!" Dave lets go part of the truck and lays low on the ground to seewhat's going on, The soldiers are in position as Captain Dick walks by them with his hands behind hisback, "alright men here's the plan on hunting these dame demons as i heard these demons are gonna planon an all out attack on the town cause of the D.H.F hunting them down so there not so happy with usand-" a soldier erupts the Captain "but sir what about those demon hunters Dave,Skull,Surge? They'remost likely to get involved in this?" Captain Dick looks at the soldier with a smirk, "no worries on thoseidiots i'll make sure they don't get involved" Captain clears his throat "now i'm gonna explain what we'regonna do about this all out attack, we're gonna have multiple groups in each area in this town, why youmay ask? Well these demon tend to flee from combat after being defeated or badly wounded and whenthey try to flank us it wont work cause we'll have backup around from stopping it from happening sohere's the map of the town" he pulls out a small device and pushes a button a hologram of the mapappears, the soldiers do the same "when ever your in contact of a demon in your area tap your icon toalert the others P.D's" Captain taps his icon and the soldiers P.D's begin to go off "now you know thatlater on i'll assign you to your group The group will have a name Point A, Point B, Point C, and Point Deach group will arrive at that position that were assigned will be marked on your map get some rest andplenty of training your dismissed" Captain Dick Salutes the Soldiers and the Soldiers salute back to him"yes sir!" the Soldiers say as they leave the area but the Captain stays and takes a carton of cigarettes outhis pocket and lights him a fag and begins to smoke. As he watches Dave thinks to himself "An all outattack on the town?....this isn't good i gotta let the guys know about this!" Dave looks at the Captain as hesmokes "Sorry Captain Dickhead but we're gonna get involved in this fight like or not" Dave smirks,before Dave plan to leave the place he hears a soldier runs up to the Captain "sir the Demon been revivedby the medical team" Captain nodes his head as he drops his cigarette and steps on it to put it out "Good ifthose dame scientist keep it locked up good this time we can train it enough and we can make it a greatsoldier" Dave eyes go wide and whispers "Soldier!?!?!?" the soldier nods his head "but i also wanted toask you something sir if we fight against the demons will......you know the-" the Captain stops him andraises his voice "don't you dare say anything about that person dont ever say the name i don't want tohear it ever! Got it!?" the soldier nods his head quickly showing fear towards the Captain "good and justmake sure that demon locked up for good" soldier salutes Captain Dick and leaves. Captain sighs, Davesoon makes up his mind he won't leave until he gets answers from Captain Dick, Dave crawls out underthe truck and stands up "Captain Dickhead i heard everything and know everything now!' the Captainquickly pulls out a pistol and points it at Dave "how the....how the hell did you get in here this is a privatefacility you can't be here!!" Dave chuckles "i find my ways so tell me....an all out attack on the town isgonna happen and you don't want me, Skull and Surge help defend it with you? Why? Cause were notpart of your team?" he says with a sarcastic tone, Captain looks at Dave with this anger look on his face,"look here Dave you three are basically civilians that aren't soldiers you just can't join in the fight!" Davecrosses his arms and gets in Captains face "you think i give a fuck? Civilian or not we're lending a handto help out no matter what Captain Dickhead!" Dave backs away from Captain Dick "oh by the way thatdemon that i killed....i know you brought it back to life and gonna make it a soldier!" Dave shakes hishead "making a demon a soldier.....why and why these demons have these numbers on its arm tell medamn it!" Dave stomps the ground and the Captain takes a deep breath."So you want answers to that, well here's your answers." The Captain clears his throat and begins to tellDave answers. "Why we make demons into soldiers well it's their abilities, some can be strong, smart,regenerate all kinds of powers, hunting was much more harder for us until we came up with an idea toturn demons into soldiers, before we just studied them to find out their weakness now we created thisantidote called antidemon, it pushes the ef ects on the demons mind to change them and act like us butstill have their powers when they were demons, before the antidote didn't lasted that long it lasted for afew hours then they change back to their demon self. After so many attempts we manage to make it workforever now theres no worries on getting another dose again. About the numbers on the demon's arm, thenumbers are the total soldiers that we made as humans but failed to control. The demon you killed stillhas a chance to be human again and turned into a soldier." Dave was surprised after receiving theanswers that he needed. He looked at Captain still showing this surprised look on his face "so how longhas this been going?" the Captain chuckles "it's been going since you were born kid" dave eyes go wide"damn that long?.....jesus...." Dave then stretches and cracks his knuckles "welp i'm gonna head homenow feeling at ease knowing all that and tell the guys all about it" Captain looks at Dave and smirks "ohand i'm telling them we're gonna help you on that all out attack" the Captain smirk fades and turns into anangry frown "didn't you hear what i about that already!?" he raises his voice and points at Dave "you andyour buddies aren't gonna join the dame fight!!!!" Dave chuckles "well how about we just join the teamtemporarily?" Captain's angry frown fades and turns into a confused look "join temporarily?" Davesmirks as he walks around Captain Dick "Basically me,Skull and Surge join D.H.F only for this all outattack battle then we go our own ways you continue to make demon soldiers as we continue huntingdemons as always....so is it a deal?" Captain rubs his chin as he thinks "hmmm....." Captain then acceptsthe deal as he nods and holds his hand out for a handshake, Dave smiles and shakes Captain Dick's hand"its a deal then" Captain nods "only thing you need to do to be accepted in D.H.F" Dave tilts his headwith a confused look "um ok do i need to sign papers, do i gotta meet someone, do i have to-" beforeDave could finish his sentence Captain Dick pulls out his pistol and points it at Daves head"uh...Cap?....what are you doing?" Captain holds the gun straight at Dave's head showing no emotion inhis face "are you afraid to die?" "Am I what?" "Are you afraid to die Dave?" Dave begins to laugh "hehheh heh heh ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!!!!" he laughs for a few then he catches his breath "am i really afraid todie? Bitch please i faced so many demons in my life a gun pointed at my head. Well, it's just anotherTuesday to me" Captain smirks and puts away his gun "you passed the test" Dave looks confused "waitthat's it? You get a gun pointed at your head and then you ask a question: are you afraid to die?" andanswer yes or no that's really easy to pass well i'm in D.H.F nothing to argue now" Dave looks at hiswatch and realized it's getting late "well i better get going Captain its getting pretty late i'll see you at thebattlefield" before Dave starts to walk away Captain yells at Dave "hey i believe you'll need these" hetosses 3 P.D's to Dave "you'll need those to contact each other and know where you guys are on thebattlefield" Dave nods "thanks well see ya Captain Dickhead!" Dave runs off as Captain yells "IT'SCAPTAIN DICK!!!!" As his voice fades away, Dave heads home and proceeds to tell them everythingthat happened and tells them to get ready for the All Out Attack!
