The mornings sun rose into my rooms and up the walls as I turn the page of an old book about wind breathing, gifted to me by my master when I was younger. Some of the pages were torn and ripped, while the edges of the book were worn, highlighting it's old age.
The chirps of birds swung through the atmosphere as footsteps echo through my home, made by the young boy who stayed the night.
My reading was brought to a halt by the sound of the Oji door opening. When I looked up, I found a very tired Tanjiro standing at the doorway, rubbing his eyes and yawning until his eyes locked mine and he smiled. "Good morning (Y/N)-san...." he said, stretching his limbs as the words gradually morphed into a yawn.
"Good morning Tanjiro-Kun. How did you sleep?" I stood up from my futon and asked, closing the book. As soon as the sun had risen, the wax candle had been blown out, leaving nothing but its leftover scent.
He grinned "I slept really well! Thank you for letting me stay the night." he muttered, his arms dropping to his sides and a sleepy smile on his face.
I began to fold my futon and smiled at him kindly "No problem, you can leave now if you want, I'll come by your house once I've gotten changed. The key's by the front door.'' I said as I stepped towards my drawer after laying my book beside the lantern with fluent movements and silent footsteps. It was as though my frame wasn't in the room and my presence had been demolished, out of sight.
He nodded "Alright, see you there!" He exclaimed as he walked out of the room, shutting the door behind him. I heard him head to the front door and unlocked it with the key, I had handed him, and after that, he put on his shoes and opened the door. He shut the door behind him after going outside and headed back to his residence.
With a surge of fear slamming over me, I sighed and went to get the key lying next to the lantern and stroll over to the storage cabinet. I inhaled deeply and closed my eyes before reopening them and inserting the key into the cabinet door's hole. After I turned the key, a small click was sounded.
As I thought over the situation, I clutched the cabinet's handle as my eyebrows furrowed in thought.
I pursed my lips in thought. 'I sensed his presence nearby last night... If that's the case, someone is more than likely in trouble. I was too busy trying to take care of Tanjiro-Kun, I got blinded, and now someone else had to pay the price for my selfishness'
I knew I was being selfish last night, but I couldn't help it. I wouldn't allow Tanjiro to die on my watch, or even worse, become a demon, and leave me to slay him in the dead of night. Not happening.
A sense of remorse rushed over me as I hesitantly opened the door with a small creak, exposing my demon slayer outfit, my (f/c) haori with an (f/p)(favorite pattern) design on it. I uncovered my nichirin katana, retractable bow, a quiver of nichirin arrows, and nichirin daggers when I delved deeper into the cabinet.
